In game voice chat needs to be implemented

Voice chat is becoming increasingly needed in league games, at least in ranked matches, in order to better coordinate and to better synchronize with teammates who you are most likely playing with for the first time. Some players may be more aggressive or more passive and different play styles can be difficult to adjust to with only the use of typing and pinging.

Although it opens the floodgates for people to curse, troll, be rude, etc. I believe the benefits outweigh the negative.

Thoughts?

Agreed.

As for toxicity: add a button to press that records the last 30 seconds of voice chat and sends it to the tribunal.

Just kidding! There's no tribunal, so the toxicity argument goes right out the window since Riot don't prioritise toxicity.

The actual reason is that making voice chat mandatory turns off little kids whose parents don't allow them to shout at their computer. And there are a ton of these playing LoL.

While I do enjoy talking to people while I play, even if it's only to keep everyone updated on the status of all lanes, I don't want to be forced to do it. Right now you don't have to type so long as you ping missing and respond to calls, but I can quite easily see that changing if a built in voice chat system went in.

I know it's a classic "slippery slope" argument, but there are a few concerns that would need to be addressed before something like this can go in.
