ULTRA SECRET STRAT TO DEAL WITH AUTOFILL

So, some of us hate being autofilled. We can't play more than a few roles, for better or worse. Or we hate having teammates who are autofilled, as we cannot play the position we are assigned to properly.

So here's the revolutionary idea- work with the people who you're playing with for the next 15-60 minutes!

You get autofilled to a role? Let your team know that you're autofilled! They'll be able to help you out. I've gotten responses ranging from "can you play jungle?" to "just do x and i'll be fine". Some of us are forgetting that our team isn't just a bunch of autonomous machines programmed to troll every single game. They will compromise and try to help you out so they can win too!

Even in cases where they won't switch, play a champion who is closest to your role. You play mages? Brand You play tanks? Sion You play marksman? MissFortune You play Riven ? GO FOR IT! WORK WITH YOUR TEAM AND EXPLAIN WHAT AND WHY!

If all that fails, if your team is full of toxicity due to your Sion support, dodge. You are probably better off out of that lobby, as it most likely would've gotten toxic in some other way.

Edit: Another thing to note: Tone will impact your responses immensely. If you say "GG autofilled give me mid if you want to win nooblordzzz", you probably won't get a positive response.

So, use common sense?

I get auto-filled semi-regularly (something-something-high-elo-problems)... a couple things I do which seems to lower the rate of getting auto-filled:

  1. Take note of your "usual" estimated queue time (5-6 minutes for me). If it spikes up (e.g. 7+ minutes for me), I'll wait a minute or 2 before restarting the queue (read: more players in queue pool = lower probability of auto-fill).

  2. If someone queue dodges, reset your queue (and maybe wait 10-30 seconds first before doing so). The matchmaker seems to prioritize auto-fill to players who have been sitting in the queue the longest.

I usually do, find out 2-3 of them are the people who say "kys n#gger f#ggot" without any provocation, and dodge anyway because they often seem to be the trolls or unreliable players.

That said, I try every time I get autofilled. Usually dodge anyway, so worst case is net-neutral.

I had a Support complain about being autofilled while his main roles were mid/top.

I got mid and when that Soraka started complaining I was like: "Bich please, all you needed to do is ask if someone could swap in champion select."

How about learn to play all roles decent, like you had to do in the past?

i dont really care if i get autofilled cuz i learned how to play all roles before hopping into ranked. has helped me a ton and provides alot of insight to how your teammates perform and when you should help. course i doubt many players are willing to do that.

Feels good knowing I'll never have an autofill problem because I play Support/Fill every game. Mmm, tasty.

This isn't a difficult concept. When I get a main role for example, I always ask everyone if anyone got autofilled. There almost always seems to be a way to peacefully deal with the issue, and have people on their roles that they want.

From there you already have a group of people that are getting along well from champion select, and that nice atmosphere makes the game feel better.
