Tank meta was better than this.
Here is my take on the recent changes, and how they are hurting the meta:
Sated devourer basically destroyed the tank meta, with insane bork synergy. this brought back the assassin meta. and with the upcoming insane nerfs to armor, tanks have lost viability. without tanks the rock-paper-scissors effect of tank>burst>sustained>tank, meaning burst assassins have no real threats meaning sustained damage (usually ADC) just gets popped before they can respond.
in the tank meta most champs where viable, but now tanks are having problems.
top lane is usually demi-bruiser fighter types (
) able to be alone in lane, and push.
mid lane is the home of big burst damage (
) since they can roam all lanes, and also farm well.
ADC bot has squishy sustained damage (
) farm with your support there, supply pushing power for the team after a big fight.
support bot is solid utility (
) keep your squishy bot safe while they farm.
jungle can support so many kinds of champ, however during the tank meta we could reliably have a tank on our team in the jungle, providing a counter to the BS instant murder that the champs that most people complained about had (
) and to counter them you just had to use your bot-lanes sustained damage.
the best thing though that we had in the tank meta was peel. actual peel. assassin jumps on our backline?
can Q into them try to stop the burst, and save the team. fed
? keep
nearby so he can Q him the moment he shows up, and ult to keep him there while the ADC murders him.
the team-fights lasted longer and where more dramatic and engaging, rather than being a race to see who can burst the other team first with a
penta. and with the buffs to MR and nerfs to armor, mid will be pretty much solid AD (

) with AP champs being way less powerful. and with teams full of assassins, ADCs are gonna get owned left and right.
we cant fight assassins without tanks, and we cant use tanks with sated devourer. which leads me to question: why do we need an attack speed jungle item? if you look at the list of champs you use it best (
) you can see that most would be able to function perfectly well with either the runeglaive or some new AD enchant (warrior is pretty meh, just a stat brick) the attack speed jungle items also are always allowing them to double dip from farming,
letting them get massive buffs for doing what they would have done anyways. it gives them insane continous damage at the cost of farming, which gives them more damage anyways.
i think we would be better of in a meta where tanks may get A kill in a 1v3 than in one where the assassin consistently gets quadrakills in 1v4.
TL;DR : tanks make the game fun,
