Just do nothing. Give no LP and take no LP when someone DCs or AFKS for more than 3 mins. If you want to complain about abuse, eventually the leaver buster will ban them longer and longer until they are perma banned. The players that lost or were losing the game will lose nothing and the players that were winning shouldn't have had it that easy in the first place. Think about what just happened, mid lane fed 5 kills and left, clearly someone got matched up against someone better than them rather than the same. Ranked games are supposed to be relatively even give or take the ocasional smurf, in all lanes with all players. When that does not happen the que finder tries to find the players that are the closest together and as you know if its off enough it will match silver players with diamonds. The same thing can be done for normal games just give nothing, and make the game safe to leave its just a normal game after all.

I know what your thinking now. "but what if the 4v5 team is winning"?

Well bob they still get nothing because that means they were matched against grossly inferior opponents or some people who made too many mistakes. Either way the game has been compromised so why should it even exist?

The last thing we want is to do something to encourage people to be jerks to the guy feeding. "Go AFK so we don't lose LP."

As long as you're not AFK'ing, over a long series of games, AFKs should benefit you.

The winning team doesn't deserve their win being taken from them just because they're so good that a loser ragequits.

How about this:

  • Instantly disband the game.
  • The team without a leaver gets a win.
  • The team with a leaver gets Loss Forgiven.
  • The leaver gets all of the LP loss his team would have gotten + a leaver mark.
  • If the leaver is in a premade, both players in the premade get half of the punishment. (Don't queue with leavers.)
  • If you're being harrassed in an attempt to make you leave, hit the mute button and report them afterwards.

Done and done.

The reason why no LP changes should happen is because of inflationary mmr happening. The luck or lack therof problem will still exist. The only solution is to do nothing. People won't win undeservedly and won't lose undeservedly either. To do so otherwise would be a diservice to the higher mmr player who actually earned their wins, a diservice to the winning team who now have to deal with stronger opponents they may not really be ready for, and the 4 bystanders (or 3 if a duo screwed up) have to wait even longer since the odds of fighting the same players have inscreased who now have an advantage over them in that they may have even better team mates.
