My ideas for fixing this jungle mess

Let's first see what the problems were to begin with in patch 8.9:

  • Jungle was able to gank lanes from minute 3 onwards
  • Lanes were decided by the jungle rather than by individual laner skill
  • Junglers vs Jungle interaction wasnt much

Let's see at what 8.10 accomplished:

  • Midlanes HAVE to pick something that can get early priority to help take scuttle crab
  • Scuttle spawn location fucks with your 3 min ahead planning
  • Level 2 duelling Junglers have become op, the rest is trash
  • Mage Junglers are pretty much dead as well (even more than before)
  • 4v4 coinflip Teamfights at Level 2 on not side aren't unusual anymore and they feel completely shitty
  • Jungle is extremely dependant on midlane now.
  • If you fall behind a little big (for example because you died 1v2 at scuttle), you can alt f4 right away, because there goes your whole jungle and your experience for the next 5 minutes until camp exp balanced out again.

So, here are my ideas for fixing all of this:

  • Revert the exp changes and instead make camps longer to clear (20% more hp, 15% less ad)
  • Make scuttle hp bar a bit smaller again, and change the exp to the normal camp exp
  • Split gold between all camps and scuttle crab
  • Gold bonus on enemy jungle camps
  • Revert Mage jungle items
  • Buff the mage jungle's passive by 30% (remember that the HP is buffed by 20% as well) against jungle monsters (so midlane Smite doesn't become a thing and the Junglers struggling to clear camps can now actually clear them)
  • Revert to two scuttle crabs
  • Increase scuttle duration, reduce respawn time.

This would have the following impact:

  • Lanes now have a longer time before the, need to sort about the Junglers showing up
  • taking scuttle actually gives you something other than just exp (because of the longer duration)
  • Mage Junglers would become viable again
  • Junglers would be equal in level, but sit on less gold unless the ganks work or they powerfarmed without tanking that much. Therefore, laners don't have to be that scared because either he's coming without items or he's not coming at all or he's counterjungling (then you could 2v1 him in your jungle)
  • Counterjungling would be more emphasized because of the gold bonus => More jungle vs jungle interaction and small skirmishes without forcing them down people's throat
  • No more random scuttle crabs that mess with your path

Any feedback on all of this?

There were no problems with the jungle.

The jungle interaction with laners (that first early gank at top, junglers "deciding" lanes) hasn't changed in years. The only appreciable change from previous jungle iterations is that the current jungle (designed for s7) is made to FORCE ganking. Previous to that, for a few seasons, the jungle could be farmed as an alternate gold route which would be (roughly) as rewarding as a lane.

The whiners about the early top lane gank are stark raving mad. That gank, at roughly that time, has been a thing since s2 and onwards. In fact it's less dangerous than it was for NUMEROUS seasons because laners show up to lane with free wards.

The only 'problem' was a meta shift (farming being more rewarding than ganking) which made the gank a constant, combined with laners who had grown lazy and refused to show respect to junglers and the dangers they pose.
