It's true that minions get creep blocked by lane wards?

If you place a stealth ward in the center of a lane directly where minions path through, it seems the ward will actually block the minions' path, forcing the minions to walk around the ward. Is this actually the case or just my misinterpretation? I saw pro players use these lane wards for vision plenty of times but having tried it, I am curious if this is an intended interaction between the wards and the minions or am I just misreading it.
