Autofill

At this point, I'd rather take 5-10 minute queues with the guarantee that I get one of my selected roles, than get a 2 minute queue where I just get auto filled jungle and I just insta dodge. If I'm going to have to wait the 5 minutes I might as well just wait for my role than waste time for everyone else lol

Pretty much because whenever someone dodges, it creates a vacancy in the team that needs to be filled and odds are good that someone on the team will be filled in that position.

Auto Fill remains active throughout all of these years because players are too intimidated by the penalties for dodging queues. If the number of players dodging filled roles increased then so would queue times. And then the entire point of auto fill would be defeated. Maybe then and only then would Riot acknowledge this toxic feature and address it. Either that or they would increase the penalties for dodging and strong arm players into accepting filled positions, but that would cause me, personally, to uninstall the game.

So you dodge getting jungle? Well, guess what? Someone on your team gets filled and the new guy gets their preferred role because they did not wait nearly as long to get on a team because "fairness".

Riot mentioned weeks ago that they were working on a system to reduce the number of players being filled. But since then, I've not seen any updates on it and I'm not going to hold my breath while I wait on it either considering their terrible track record of making good on announcing positive changes to the game.
