your trolling right? out of all the fighters/tanks/bruisers whatever term you want to use to describe her, she was by far the weakest these past few patches.

I'm sorry if I upset you. That was sophomoric of me. It's okay whether or not you play Irelia. Nobody cares if I am right or wrong.

Ouch! That is not a very nice thing to say. I think people should have thicker skins when it comes to cyber-bullying, but you should be careful what you say. You don't know about people in this anonymous environment. You could trigger something in a person and being unnecessarily mean is never a good thing.

Because Irelia is in a horrible state this season/meta.

Now where are the Riven buffs?

I don't want to sound like a dick head but you sir are highly wrong. Everyone knows she builds rageblade and everybody knows regablade users are broken

Irelia main here. I actually did a thread saying I was against these buffs cause I don't see them having a desireable impact, and got downvoted for it. Apparently a lot of people think these buffs are justified. Basically what's wrong with Irelia right now is her items. -Triforce got remade and is now a lot worse on Irelia than before -All other items that were great on her got abused by other champions and then got nerfed (Steraks, Guinsoos, Maw, Dead Mans Plate, etc)

That's basically it, her items suck for her this season, her play and winrate is down, her counters are meta, and ADCs are a lot stronger and tankier this season (the guys she's supposed to kill don't die as easily anymore) so Riot buffs her a little.

I think buffing her is fine, but I also think the buff they have gone with only really lowered her skill cap instead of actually helping her succeed.

Amazingly put. I'm no Irelia main, but itemization is definitely the reason I've went from playing 20-25 ranked games with her last season to 0 so far this season

Linna Excel1 votes

Yep. However it seems like on champion.gg the best thing you can do for her now is going 18-12-0 and picking up fervor on her. But if you look at it the other way, if people find a good item or two on her, she'll be back in fashion again.

She could do with some skill-cap lowering, considering most of the other champs going top now...but you're entirely correct that this is not the way to 'fix' Irelia.

Making her Q a 10 second CD, scaling to current would have been a better change. Irelia has 2 obscenely long 'windows' she gives opponents via Q and W if she ever decides to be aggressive or even trade. Two 15 second CDs.

This alone would give her better presense in lane without making her pressure overbearing against her current favorable match-ups. It would mostly help her with counter-trading.

That's only if Irelia's all that's being looked at, though. ADCs, since they were given such powerful itemization, need to somehow be excluded from all other class's items. This includes Assassin and Bruiser. This way their itemization stays entirely independent and we don't have ADCs getting other class's items nerfed to the point where AD champs and tanks (whos items are the only ones ADCs won't buy aside from AP...) are the only viable options.

I really like the mana cost buff on her Q because getting pushed to tower constantly against certain matchups and running out of mana quickly because you had to spam Q to get cs can be pretty hard to deal with. I would rather have had a different buff than the Q scaling though but I guess it's alright. I personally would've gone with something like one of the following: -W true damage increased early ranks but stays the same max rank -W heal increased overall a little bit (maybe something like 8/10/12/14/16 or something idk). Or keep it the same but increase the heal against champions -Lowered cooldown on W -Lowered cooldown on Q at early ranks but the same at max rank

That's all I can think of. Some people have said remove the clunky cast time or delay on E but I think it should be there even though it can be annoying because it offers some counterplay to the stun or slow.

She was getting underplayed and honestly needed one as she was a bit too weak.

Trynd Only Sorry2 votes

Js, irelia was shit these past few patches. Why do you think irelia jungle became a thing? What sucks is they didn't even buff what needed to be buffed.

No, I am obviously not an Irelia main.

Linna Excel1 votes

She's not a good jungler though.

Ravenhale1 votes

Best argument against Irelia jungling is delay in power spike. Jungling puts off her building Tri-Force as her first item, but as she isn't in a position of dueling, this isn't a major issue. However with the changes to Tri-Force, a lot of Irelias have started out with Guinsoo as their first laning item for the AD/AP stats and conditional AS boost. Obviously there isn't a hybrid jungle item, but Warrior gives a flat 60 AD that ends up with Ult damage almost on par with Guinsoo (36 instead of 38 per blade). You could go Devourer to speed up her camp clears but that really delays her power spike pretty far into the mid game. Warrior just feels like the optimal choice and is actually cheaper than Guinsoo (not by much), so the question here is which gets her the gold faster. The answer is almost always in lane, so that's the best reason to not jungle with Irelia. Personally, I take her jungle because I prefer uncontested CS.

It's never been an issue of whether or not she can jungle, because she can. In fact, she's less vulnerable to jungle with than Sejuani. She feels very much like Vi when it comes to camp clears. For ganks, she feels a lot more like Poppy, since there's nothing wrong to open a gank with Q when you won't be continuing to lane against this opponent.

Linna Excel1 votes

My understanding of irelia jungle has it was always sub-par in the fact that she needs items that she can't really afford when jungling. Trinity Force which is a core item on her, is terribly expensive.

Ravenhale1 votes

Correct. The thing is when we critique Irelia Jungle, we aren't trying to compare her to other junglers. We are actually comparing her to Top Lane Irelia, which should be better.

Edit: This is also what is done for Nasus and Sion Jungle.

Trynd Only Sorry1 votes

Exactly. Why would she jungle if she could lane? Her lane was shit.

xdeviltwinkiex1 votes

Irelia has and still is weak, I'm not an Irelia main either in fact I have never played her but whenever I see an Irelia she is always getting stomped.

Gotted1 votes

lol k

Gotted1 votes

Probably just because her playrate is kind of low. She isn't particularly fun to play unless you lick windows in your down time. You can increase easy to play or boring to play champs' playrates if you just make them op as shit. Don't worry the uptick in her play will have people calling for nerfs within the days end.

LongHair Fox2 votes

Says the rengar main. I am sorry but if the irony is not clear here then I don't know what is.

Gotted1 votes

Hmm. Since they made Rengar harder to play and detuned his numbers his play rate, pick rate, and ban rate have all fallen with his win rate slightly bumping. Not sure about the irony.

Was anybody complaining that she was too weak (besides Irelia mains)?

So your argument is that unless a champion is complained about being a certain way, that champion isn't? Your argument is that the act of complaining changes the qualities of a champion?

Gene Freakz1 votes

This was just one scenario out of many that could have played out. Ultimately it is in the hands of the balancing team for Riot, not board commenters even though they are a contributor. I was just asking if people had been wanting her to get buffed. I don't say this was an inherently good or bad thing in my post. I don't play Irelia and I was just curious, but I was received with a lot of hostility. I am not arguing; I am merely asking a question. Do you not know the difference?

WoonStruck1 votes

Underplayed and 47% winrate. Considering she does well against a lot of champions being played top, except direct AD counters, you'd expect her to be doing well.

thumbnail91 votes

Yeah, you should put some time into the champ.

She just doesn't function anymore. Irelia's damage in the mid game is entirely based on Tri-force. If you don't build it on her you just Lawl at the fact every other item in the game is garbage on a mid game champ. They also don't do anything for the mid game because practically all of them but T-force are scaled for late game scaling.

So now you have a mid game champ with mid game scaling relying on late game items, when she clearly does not scale into late game at all. I do agree with that guy up there that these buffs will probably do nothing.

Pretty Dhizi1 votes

I barely consider this a buff when it was merely mana reduction and a tiny-ass ratio improvement. I'd call it a QoL change more so than anything.

Ravenhale1 votes

Tri-Force is still very core to her build and the recent changes to it were not that great for Irelia (or Hecarim for that matter). 5 less AD value and no AP value (was 30) cuts out notable damage from her Ult. It's effectively 3 less damage from AD and 15 less damage from AP per blade. So with 4 blades in a 1v1 trade, Irelia does 72 less damage and heals herself 18 less than before (blades have 25% vamp). Her Equilibrium strike (E) had a 50% AP scaling, so it does 15 less damage at the start of every trade. So considering your normal trade starts with a Q to a near death minion, followed with E, press W and spam R with AA... well the numbers with old Tri-Force clearly will outperform the new Tri-Force.

I'm not sure why they buffed her Q. It already has a flat 35 mana refund and CD reset on kill so it wasn't an expensive skill if used properly. The 120% AD is nice, since she is one of the few that still has a skill that scales off base AD instead of bonus AD. Q farming will be cheaper and easier, which only helps the people that had issues farming. I don't see it actually improving her ability to duel, since Q is normally used to gap close to a near death minion to start your trade. You can't really use it on your opponent to initiate the fight as it might reduce the effectiveness of her E (stun is better than a slow).

Great vs. Heimerdinger and Aurelion Sol in my experience.
