It just seems weird that we still have these. I don't really ever see anyone saying anything about how they are good for the game, or why we should keep them, but I do see a lot of people frustrated with them, and many good points have been brought up that they seem unfair, cause undue stress, and seem rather pointless nowadays, why doesn't Riot ever discuss them? Why do we still have them?
Riot keeps it to bar people from ranking up because of luck.
We call it bull because 99% of the time by the time you reach promo you outsurpass your teammates in skill but for whatever reason your enemies tend to be a higher rank.

I think they are fine. they make you show your skill (theoretically) before moving up a division, you need to string together a few wins against slightly tougher opponents. They would be better if the division system meant more but it is kind of messed up because of how they do match making.
The reason Promos exist is to justify a demotion barrier on losses.
Otherwise, they wouldn't make sense.
The other reason (the one that no one at a gaming company will discuss, is that it gives you a much higher dopamine hit to finish a promo than to just "rank up from a win."
The more features a game gives you in the process of a climb, the more stimulating the game is, and the less likely you are to find it ungratifying. (Even if you dislike a specific feature)
Back before promos, there would be cases of people ranking up and getting carried or generally getting lucky and being several elo brackets above where they should be.
Yes, I dont lose promos so I cant relate to the stories of "I'm always winning until I reach promos and I get feeders reeee"
