Maybe i'm just too dumb to understand by why doesn't NA ban properly?

It's like watching bronze/silver players ban a bunch of shit no one plays, which almost always happens, then the enemy gets 2-3 broken in need of perma ban champions and absolutely stomp the game

Why hasn't NA banned properly ever? i've watched since season 3 and they've literally always known the enemy team's strengths, and chosen to not ban the champions they pick and carry with, and then suddenly bam they get those champions and 1v9 with them in a lot of cases.

Good exemple is TL VS SKT. Not banning Lee Sin even tough it's by far Clid best champion. Why waste a ban on Olaf instead of Lee Sin? I don't get it.

this is exactly what i'm talking about

they do this every international event, they repeatedly don't ban the champion that shits on them and HAVE THE AUDACITY TO PUT THIS APE DOUBLELIFT ON CAMERA SAYING "I JUST WANNA MAKE IT OUT OF GROUP STAGE" well then fire your fucking coach

Well they did scrape out of Groups at MSI, but gonna bet they get 3-0ed by IG.

And to be fair to the players, I doubt they have any say about who their coaches are.

I'd wonder if maybe they banned Olaf to make sure he wasn't taken top lane? Still doesn't make much sense.

It's just idiotic that ever since these teams became about nothing more than money the quality of their play, synergy, and decision making on all levels has tanked, despite forging super teams

I'm not sure I follow. The desire to be the best and therefore real the best rewards is why they play and teams try to sign the best players they can. Are you implying that pros streaming is a problem? Or do you think they don't listen to coaches? I'm also confused about the claim of super teams. It's not like Impact or Xmithie are top shelf players? Most of the best teams over the years have had a couple top stars and also had a weak link or two. I don't think NA has ever seen a super team.

Then how about asserting your points with clear examples rather than use nebulous phrases? When did LCS become only about money? When was there ever a LCS super team? When was the play supposedly better?

My sentiments exactly! It was one hell of a head scratcher to me. If I had to take a shot in the dark, this feels like a TL thing akin to what used to be TSM things where they'd ban by what they assumed the trend to be rather than target ban, counter pick, and/or be freaking confident in the matchups regardless of what is sacrificed.

Feels like you could apply that to any other team with a more fluid coaching staff and they'd at least acknowledge the threat.

The Olaf ban is a fair question, but the Lee Sin point is ridiculous. Literally NO ONE banned Clid's Lee Sin. (and Clid CHOSE to play RekSai in one game and went 7-0-1) Clid's a strong player who can probably handle the meta picks (like RekSai) well and happens to just be strong with Lee Sin. I think Liquid should have been ready to play against the Lee Sin, but I don't see banning it.

I think the big problem for Liquid (and NA honestly) is not necessarily their coach but the rest of the support staff. That's one reason for excitement and optimism coming out out of groups. NA has often been bad (internationally) in Bo1's in large part IMO because I think NA can "adjust" well (G2 showed Liquid that Sylas is perma-ban), and yes these are things they SHOULD have known going in, but I think the team and coaches adjust to what happens on the rift but for whatever reason don't do a lot of research or don't process it correctly.

Maybe they thought Olaf was a bigger threat than say a pocket pick.... I somewhat understand but at the same time you have 5 bans and everyone knows Lee Sin is a god tier champion in the hands of a Korean player.
