question about the future of AP junglers

I feel like the champions that want to build runeglaive in the jungle are very limited, and that the big AP junglers can be counted on one hand (Diana ,Elise ,Nidalee ,Fiddlesticks ). Kayle 's off building devourer, and any other magic damage jungler will want to build cinderhulk because they're tanks. Evelynn also builds it from time to time, but she's much more of a hybrid and can pretty much build any jungler item. Everybody else (provided they actually build AP) is pretty much just better off played in the mid lane or the top lane (Fizz and Chogath).

What I want to know is if you plan on making the jungle a more habitable environment for magic damage dealers, if you think it's fine right now, or if there are simply bigger tasks you think you should be handling at the moment.

Have you guys considered giving jungle monsters magic resist? For almost all AP junglers, and even the ones that build tanky, there aren't really any good Marks those junglers can take other than attack speed, which really don't offer that much benefit in ganking (with a small handful of exceptions like diana or kayle). Giving monsters magic resist would allow many magic damage junglers to take magic penetration (or hybrid for that matter). If you take penetration now, you basically have to focus on ganking early since your clears aren't really all that great but you do some sweet damage to champions. Attack speed marks have the opposite problem, where your farming is good but your ganks aren't really all that great and its hard to find a healthy balance between the two. Mixing the runes don't really give you good enough of either.

The only thing to do would be to modify the monsters health and armor to make sure other clear times on AD champs wouldn't be affected and that clear speed would only be slightly lower than all Attack speed reds. Which would probably be a lot of math.

I'm mostly curious if you've thought about this, if you plan on making more mid laners able to go to the jungle, and if you think you'll change the mage jungle item up again to not so heavily favor low-cooldown mages (granted, low cooldowns are probably a necessity for jungling regardless of the state of the item, unless your name is fiddlesticks). Perhaps even release more AP junglers that aren't also just better mid-laners most of the time.

Apart from all the discussion some people have about whether the changes Riot has made recently have actually helped or hurt diversity in champion picks and builds, I feel like the jungle specifically has definitely been expanding pretty well. AD damage used to be pretty much the only playable thing, but now tanks and AP damage are both perfectly viable and AD damage is still decently strong.

So, to your thing about the runes, I feel like you perfectly articulated why Riot should keep that the way it is. It forces you to make that trade-off. If you want to gank, or farm you should build to that play style. Having a set rune page for literally every champion is too generic and lacks the diversity that Riot keeps saying they want to implement. So, changing things to essentially force a particular build is the exact opposite of what I think Riot wants to be doing.

the biggest issue with that is that rune pages are, well, pretty expensive and that cost barrier ends up limiting options for a lot of players, especially new ones.

Plus, it's just the marks. Some will still want the attack speed, some will want hybrid pen, some will want magic pen, then you got your tanks that scale with hp and want hp quints, then some mages will want cdr blues, others will want magic resist for tanking during ganks, and thats another trade off you have to make. I feel like opening up magic resist reds as a useful option that aren't pretty much inferior to attack speed (in most players eyes). I'm hoping it would open up more options by allowing more champs to be good in the jungle.
