I know this is probably going to be downvoted to hell, but what if Ranked was a buy-in ladder system where you paid like 2500IP to get in. If you lost too many times you would eventually be removed from Ranked until you pay another 2500IP. This would clean up a lot of the trash players in the lower elo and make it less prone to trolls and such.

As far as anyone who actually has multiple runepages for matchups, you are one step ahead of the curve and the odds are you would only have to buy in once per season.
Rivenwind1 votesThe thing is that in order to play ranked there is a minimum number of champions that you must own to even qualify to que for your provisionals. This is speaking mostly from a new player's perspective, but yes, Ranked mode does have a buy in when you consider that you must purchase these champions.
Can't really comment on the runepages thing too much. I've been saving for runepages pretty much since I got two functional pages and hit 30. It's an absolute bitch to save for them when I'm also missing better than half of the champion roster for my main role.
Grymmstrike1 votesI started ranked over a year ago without even a full rune page. As far as a minimum number of champs to own, I am not sure about that, but generally the game is F2P and you can play the rotation champs...
Not sure because I own 100+ champs and pretty much buy any champ when it goes on sale. I do know people who have NEVER played anything but ONE CHAMP for every ranked match. Some of them are even in the Plat+ range.
dim2a2 votesI don't see the benefit compared to current system. Right now if you lose a lot, your mmr drops, so you will not be matched against players with good mmr. It's not like people with OK mmr are matched with/against people who would be prevented from ranked under your proposal, so they don't benefit. And people who would be prevented from ranked.. well, they don't benefit either.
Grymmstrike1 votesI have had three coaches tell me I play at least as good as most gold players, and another coach tell me that I "shouldn't be bronze". Yet I am stuck in bronze. I am good enough to do MY JOB most of the time, I am not good enough to carry 4 other people. Especially when you have trolls and afkers thrown in there. I was duoing with another guy the other day and we had 3 games out of 4 where we had a guy go afk partway through (One guy went afk around 18 minutes, we ended up losing at 48 minutes because we just couldn't 4v5). Winning is a team concept and it is not possible for an average person to solo carry most of their games, especially if they play a set of champs that aren't super snowball champs.

Grymmstrike1 votesIt isn't "paying up" it is literally just paying a buy-in, like to the WSOP. You pay, you bust out, you are gone. You can rebuy like in some of the WSOP events, but it literally does nothing for you except waste IP, a resource that you actually have to work to get (Trolling around will get you very little IP).

Anastaecia1 votesWhat we need is try outs. Play 10 games or 20 or whatever, and your stats need to be at a certainn level on avg. If your KDA is less than 1....You do not belong in ranked for example. If you are a laner and your cs/min is less than 3, you do not belong in ranked.
Just seems for as serious as ranked is supposed to be (HELLO, that's where pros come from), Riot sure treats it like norms.
