Why is little to no thought given to the range advantage?
Look at literally any other game oriented around combat and there is one overwhelmingly common balance trait.
Range is strong in itself and thus needs to be compensated around and currently only 5 items take this into account and only on the mobility level.
Why is there not some modifier on dorans shield for ranged vs melee attacks? Why is there not an experience modifier for melee vs ranged heros? Or any aknowledment of the large benifits of being at range aside from "Bam, mobility spells and flash, can we go home now?". Part of the issue with leagues mobility creep is the lack of thought given to the power that comes with range. Look at how easy it is to kite melee heros with no stupid mobility. This lack of thought is what causes the drastic balance issues with certain champions, (Melee assasins need more damage to offset the risks, ranged heros need more risks to offset their safety).
Why not an XP modfier to melee heros that gives them a bonus? Specifically would make the poke comps into a race against time to close out a lead, force variety in the jungle more by delegating a larger benifit to farming outside of muh awakening, and lead to some interesting choices around the bot lane meta (Which breaks the game most of the time anyway) by maybe bringing back roaming supports in the hope of giving your ADC more XP.
