How do you beat Zed as Katarina?

I just ban him whenever i get the chance because he destroys kat super hard

Start these not cloth armor.

• Yup, you don't want cloth armor vs Zed. You want to practice predicting his movements and dodging his damage. If you get hit by his stuff he gets energy back. So if you dodge it he can't poke as much.

• Max and Utilize W to trade blows mid range but not close enough for him to auto attack. Never get within his auto attack range ever. Practice using Q > W at max range of W to proc Thunderlords.

• Never use E offensively EVER vs Zed. Use E to dodge his Q after he throws shadow.

• Aggressively trade damage after he uses Q. But never in his auto attack range.

• Rush Rylai not Zhonya unless you are losing lane hard.

• When he uses ult wait until it lands then W for MS and E away as he uses Q.

• Make an extra rune page for Talon/Zed match ups in general. Flat Armor Quints, Flat Health or Scaling Health Seals, Magic Pen Marks, and Scaling Ap glyphs.

Edit - I also thoroughly enjoy this match up personally as Kat because with enough skill/practice you can beat them with ease.

One thing I've noticed when fighting is that you ultimately have control of where he appears after he ults. So when he ults me, I walk to a more advantageous position. Like far under my tower.

When he ults you you can try to ward hop somewhere else as soon as he pops back up so that he will miss his shurkiens.This means he will either have to use his shadow clone to dive you or escape with it. Pre-6 when he tries to poke you with shadow+shurkien you can hop on him and use your abilities because the only dmg he can do to you is from his shadow slash(low dmg early game) and his autos (he should only be able to get 1-2 autos off on u).

Buy a whole lot of pot and roam bot I'd imagine.

Answer-Never go into your lane, your lane is only for exp, nothing more, not even for gold, once you hit level six, just become your adcs second support, simple as that.

What makes you think you can?

Katarina isn't even a very good champion at the moment, while Zed is pretty much top-tier. You're not gonna win this matchup. Sucks to be you.

By playing a champion that actually takes skill.

Well you're going up up against a skill and mechanic based champion as a mainly mechanic based one. Whereas zed has a lot of execution/timing options Katarina really doesn't. Kat can do one of maybe 2 things and then she's done.

His play is far beyond my level of analysis, but it did look like he was also struggling vs. Zed, and he knows Zed really well, so it might just be a really difficult match up. Bad news is that you're not Faker, and so it's probably not the best idea to try to emulate everything you see him do, since he has a really deep understanding of the game. Good news is you're also not playing top level Zed players. From what I could determine, it seemed like he farmed up, went aggressive when he could (since he understands the game especially well and when he can and cannot trade), got picks where he could, and beat Zed in the late game where Katarina is more useful in teamfights.

I prefer going 20 magic pen in my runes with scaling health and sometimes going either boots or cloth depending on how i far up i want to play early. I usually max W because zed is melee and your W is long enough to hit him before he can auto/get his slow off. Also when you proc your W you get a movement speed boost to dodge incoming shurikens or his follow up. If you want you can also try my rune page which is 3movement speed in quints, 16 ap, 4armor and scaling armor. It is good for the early clear but the pen page helps burst the other fighters which are all over the place nowadays.
