@Lyte @Riot Idea to reduce queue toxicity & queue dodges: Anonymous names

What if solo ranked queue was totally anonymous until the game started, and only pre-made players can see their teammates' names? I feel this would help reduce pre-game toxicity including:

  1. People looking up match history on someone before the game starts and fighting over roles
  2. Decrease the potential chance to abuse vote-kick (which would be great to have) in ranked queues based on match history, names, etc.
  3. Decrease negative environment in champion select between players who know each other that previously had negative experiences, "(Blank) is bad and report them" and reduce incentive to troll pick/force dodges

Each slot would be assigned generic names like "Summoner 1-5" etc, so communication would still be possible in queue. I realize being anonymous may give incentive to troll if people don't get the role they want, but perhaps implementing a vote-kick system and accurate tribunal reports can designate harsher punishments? Honestly trolling shouldn't be a concern if the tribunal is functioning as it should.

It just feels like personally, I am constantly dodging queue because one person is blatantly saying they're going to troll and picking revive/clarity ezreal and someone else is picking heimerdinger support and going afk.

Have you ever been to other servers? they have actually tried that, and it is a complete failure.

Unfortunately, no. What servers and why were they are complete failure? I feel like people looking up match histories of people is one of the key motivators of how they treat people on their team in champ select. And honestly would be necessary to implement a vote-kick system which is critically needed.

Ok, let me explain this to you. They had this on Chinese server, and it is totally not helping. If people are allowed to chat anonymously in champs select, then they can just curse whatsoever, and be extremely toxic, and yet still remain unreported. Riot did not want that to happen.

If they will be revealed upon chatting, then people will be forced to be silenced in order to be unchecked. That still would not be so good, but it can help to a degree. However, they will still be able to check their teammates after champs selections during the loading screen time, and guess what would happen when they found out their mid ori is 0-5 last game? Same.

In conclusion, toxicity is a social norm, a tradition. It is barely affected by those so called rules set up by the gaming companies. Norms would only be worse and worse, you can't actually treat it like a disease and expect to cure it.

Solution to people being toxic in queue is to report them - I don't see how it's any different than it is now? You can clearly figure out who is being toxic based on their position in champ select, and can have the # tied to their name in game if they actually end up making it in the game.

The main factor for introducing anonymity is preventing people looking up match histories (which was never intended in the first place) and having negative bias. This would be for RANKED and would help enable a vote kick system for trolls and help prevent vote kick abuse.
