Bruiser Build Rek'Sai Ideas

So right now RekSai isn't in the best spot after nerfs for worlds. I've been thinking of a few changes to both bring her back from the dead and encourage a more bruiser build instead of the full tank build. This would also build up more of a theme of an unescapable landshark of doom

Passive - Fury of the Xer'Sai

  • Gains more fury the more damage is dealt
  • Deal X amount of base physical damage on abilities and autos for X amount of Fury (no scaling)
  • Option 1: At max fury, physical damage becomes true damage (keeps with void champ theme of dealing true damage)
  • Option 2: At max fury, autos and abilities slow enemy/speed up Rek'Sai (one or the other)
  • After being out of combat for X seconds and in burrowed form, gain health (old passive, but out of combat requirement)
  • LESS BASE DAMAGE ON ALL ABILITIES Reasoning I think this passive has a huge amount of wasted potential. A giant monster builds up their fury, and then unleashes it to... heal a tiny bit of their health. These changes would encourage a build with a bit of AD so you could build fury faster, but the lack of scaling on damage would discourage full AD assassin builds. The heal is a big part of her jungle clear, so i'm keeping it intact except for adding an out of combat requirement so you don't lose fury in the middle of a fight.

Burrowed Q - Prey Seeker

  • Option 1: Gives X amount of bonus fury when hitting enemy with Prey Seeker. Lost when unburrowing.
  • Option 2: Speed up when moving towards a champion hit by Prey Seeker
  • Longer cooldown or smaller hitbox as tradeoff Reasoning This ability is by far the most underwhelming ability in Rek'Sai's kit, and it usually just feels like it does nothing. Both options are reasons why you would use this ability before "seeking your prey" AKA going into a fight. Option 1 would allow you to build up a bit of fury right before you go in. Option 2 would allow you to "seek your prey", and when you find them by hitting the ability, it would give you a boost to go into a fight. Both of these go with the theme of using to ability to scout out and find your enemies.

Unburrowed E - Furious Bite

  • Deals bonus damage based of X% of enemy's missing health
  • Removed Fury scaling (it's now a part of passive) Reasoning With fury scaling now on all damage, this ability would need a change to keep it unique. Built full tank, Rek'Sai wouldn't do enough damage by herself to make good use of missing health damage, but when she builds some damage, it becomes a good execute ability.

These are just my ideas and opinions on what could be done to change Rek'Sai and make her a better champion in general. Obviously numbers would need to be changed and probably some others details on abilities. Feel to leave constructive criticism and ideas to improve.

(While i was typing this little post which took a long time to get my thoughts together, i though about Tryndamere in the middle of my thought process and the abilities you created are closely related to him, which I thought was not a bad idea considering that both champs are fury based.)

I do agree with you on all accounts about RekSai being nerfed into the ground. These are some great ideas that you have created for her and I feel this would improve her engage game and chase game as a whole. And to backup your point I have some info and data and my theory on the issue because I'm a Rek'Sai player and I have had my fair share of frustration playing her as a fighter and a tank. Neither of these roles she is able to excel in because of the patches that have occurred on her since SEASON 5.

"S5 Patch Notes" Since S5 these are the patch notes that have "summoner 3ed" Rek'Sai into the ground: http://lol.gamepedia.com/Rek%27Sai_-_The_Void_Burrower#5.7 Now if you notice from the link, her damaged is reduced to half relating to her base damage and bonus damage %. Her fury rate has also been nerfed relating to the "on-hit" damage of unborrow which was very important to her engage game. Right now she is not able to do any damage to other fighters or tanks even if she built damage like item 3071 or item 3074.

Her Q damage is not high enough for her to do burst damage as RIOT intended for her do. I also agree that in order for her to do her full combo which takes SOOOOOOO long. What I learned is that in order for the fury bar to gain high amounts of fury through the combo is to AA the enemy right after you unborrow from under them, and then use your Q. Even when you do all of this you still have 3/5 of the bar that needs to be filled and that takes 5+ more secs which can make or break you. You would have to build a Attack speed item say like item 3153 or item 3124. Even with this its still not enough to get your full fury bar and then cast your E. And on top of that, her E skill doesn't even do enough damage even when its full.

"How the patch notes have switched her roles"

In S6, they nerfed her utility and defense: cooldowns became longer for her W skill and decreased her base and scaling armor.

This is reality right now:

"Fighter/Assassin Role" If you build Rek'Sai the way "RIOT" wants you to at this moment Fighter/Assassin (also meaning "killed or be killed" in PATCH NOTE 6.18 when clearly her skills set says otherwise) in patch 6.22 or .23, you still will not have enough damage potential to kill an enemy champion and even when you build health and lifesteal to the so called fighter/assassin play style, its still not enough to soak up the damage or sustain the damage being dealt to you.

"Bruiser/Tank Role" On the other side of this double edge sword. If you build tanky, even when you have 2000+ health with at least 100+ resist on both armor and magic resist around midgame, you still will not be able to soak up damage because you will still feel squishy. You cant play reksai as the MAIN tank anymore, if you do you will not see the results until late game.

In conclusion I agree with MrBunnyslap. Something needs to be done because right now the implementation of the previous patches has summoner 3ed Rek'Sai.
