Riot don't do the mistake to nerf garen read this

low elo , and high elo should find how to play vs garen ,rather than complain ,and make garen back to nothing ... , before this patch garen was not even in a metha..., now it is , yeah is a frontliner , but he can get counter by slow abilitys and cc , same as any other front liner and champion tanky..

If you don't stay near garen then you will not feel his strength , same apply when you play vs renekton , jax,darius ,fiora ,irelia , you don't complain about them , because they been keeped in metha and you learned to play vs them... , but you haven't learned to play vs garen.

Few ideeas how to counter garen , urgot is a strong champion against garen ,also jax well played on good trades... , there is lissandra who slows and can use r , and she can also use e to escape ... , there is gnar also a strong combo champion , sion cc and damage , nasus slow which makes garen useless as he can't move to reach any target , and there is more what awaits people to find , for exemple i would counter extremly hard garen with a jinx adc pick , or i would pick malzahar mid , is extremly simple how you can counter him ... .

Give it a chance ,learn to play vs him ,then complain about his strength ... , you will see he is same as is darius when he is close to a target or jax or renekton ,irelia,fiora , you complain actually about a melee champion , when you have so many tools to counter play him... , you even can ban him , and that's not all , you just complain instant because actually garen got in metha ,being able to perform good with him , is not garen fault that players no know to deal with him ... , if you will learn to play vs him , you will laught so hard on him being useless ... , if you will underestimate him , and you will not fight him proper ,and you will not pick champions to make his life harder , then feel free to complain about every champion....

You remember katarina ultimate old katarina ,was insane , years in row she been same , and still she does get powerfull if people dosn't build cc team... , same apply vs garen , so is not his fault that you just not building your team according to enemy picks .

55% win rate from bronze to gold 54% in plat 52.6% in dia 54.9% in masters

for a champion with such minimal skill expression as garen having such high win rates means that his stats are way over inflated and thus NEEDS to be nerfed

the counter play against the champion didn't change at all he gained a shield that made most of his bad matchups that kept him in check irrelevant im happy that you finally can do well with your champion but that doesn't mean you understand how bad it is to fight him

Or you should learn to play a champion that actually needs some skills, rather than expecting Riot to overbuff Garen so hard that he can shit on high elo despite being the most braindead easy champion in the game. Saying to high elo players that "they should learn to play instead of complaining" is quite laughable.

Oh shit that did a lot of damage I should use my abilities to run, fight back, or maybe even flash if it does that much damage(which it does later in the game)

What's that? Oh I'm silenced and cant use any of my abilities and now he's spinning on me doing damage

Oh finally the silence dropped and my flash is up I can get away and CC him

whats that? Oh he clicked a button and basically cleansed it and now my abilities deal no damage and now hes tower diving me at full hp taking no dmg because Garen

Oh he clicked a button and deleted a 4th of my hp and now I'm dead

MAN, I COULDVE REALLY OUTPLAYED THAT.

Seriously. I'm pretty zen and optimistic when it comes to playing league but this I just don't understand, He gets a point and click silence, Tenacity, a shield, basically, a cleanse on his W, a point and click execute, a self heal passive, consistent damage, and hes super easy. I don't understand why these stats are the way they are. Garens kit as a whole is pretty unhealthy and these nerfs are beyond deserving.

Funny how the majority of people that are whining about Riot noticing their mess-up are people who are abusing Garen for some freelo.

Guys, get this in your head, Garen, with today's kit, shouldn't EVER be a treat everyone can pick on Diamond+, because Garen is literally the easiest champion in the game to pick up and play.

If that's what Riot wants from the champion and that's their reason for keeping their kit, then he should NEVER, EVER be as viable as he is in high elo right now, that spot should be reserved for the one-tricks or people that really know him well.

Why? Because he is so EZ to both play and counter, that if he becomes dangerous in high elo, that means something in his number stats is wrong, and he is clearly unbalanced.

Sucks? Yeah, sucks to suck too mate, literally either git gud at Garen as he is meant to be, a tank, or learn something that takes a slightly, even the smallest bit of hands.

You are under some misapprehensions.

The Garen re-work was NOT done as a buff. Garen got a nice a buff a few months ago. Season 9 has been the best season that Garen has ever had, arguably. He's been in a pretty good spot FOR HIM for a while.

Throughout the process, the administration re-iterated that his winrate was not intended to be permanently improved by these changes. That if his winrate DID rise, then he would be nerfed. That means, it's not a buff. (Ideally, they want his winrate to stay the same, they say. Personally, I think that he may wind up a bit worse, next Season.)

Garen was intentionally released overtuned so that players would like the changes (and with the intention of scaling down his numbers after a patch or two).

The main difference for me is that Garen dies a little more often and falls off harder in the endgame. In return, he has a somewhat more comfortable early game. I'd pick the previous Garen. (After they undo the rework release overtuning. Because the underlying kit that he is left with, is worse.)
