Riot. When reworking Galio make sure to keep his Ultimate in some part of his kit

The only ability that is iconic to Galio is his ultimate. His Q is a generic magic blast, his W is a generic shield, and his E is a generic gust of wind. This can all go to the garbage can, since is not really important to Galio and his theme at all. However, his Ultimate screams I'm a gargoyle or a statue that has come to life. As long as that remains in some part of his kit, you can change everything else. His other abilities won't be missed, unlike his ult.

I find the W to be an interesting ability.

W is as far from an 'generic' shield as it gets! It's not even a shield....do you even Galio? And the line speedbuff of his E is quite nice and a rather unique abillity aswell.

For me, the only two skills that can go completely are his passive and Q. I honestly would be perfectly fine with just some number changes and changesing the passive into something that makes going melee and useing AAs actually worth the effort.

Keep his passive and his w and they can change the rest. I don't want to lose my counter for Leblanc or Fizz

I would miss his w

Galio should be a guardian that will do everything he can to protect his allies at all costs.

I feel like Galio has some interesting abilities, but they don't exactly mesh together. Some parts fit his theme, while other parts sorta just feel a bit like.. filler.

**Passive - ** This is an interesting effect, and few champions have similar abilities (AP and HP on Vlad, Armor on Rammus, might be a few more). It kinda fits him as a tanky mage, but I wouldn't be too upset to see it go.

  • If changed, I could almost see Galio's passive getting some aspects similar to his W, though I can't say for sure how that would work.

Q - This is the ability that seems to be completely out of place on Galio. He plays like he should be in close quarters, but his Q (and E) go against that. That said, while his current Q doesn't really fit his theme, it does technically fill in the gaps of his kit.

  • If changed, I could see this becoming an auto-attack adjustment. Empower his next auto-attack(s) with extra damage and a slow. If it stays as a ranged ability, it will still likely have some form of slow.

**W - ** This ability is one that's quite unique, and I like how it works. Give an ally (or yourself) a boost of Armor and Magic Resistance, then get healed whenever the buffed target is damaged. I just wish it didn't look like a shield, because it really isn't a shield.

  • If changed, I could see this and his passive being combined somehow. I could also see this being changed into an actual shield, though I don't think that's the right way to go. Adjusting the way it heals might be a wise idea. It could stop healing after X number of hits taken, or it might could heal a percentage of the damage taken. Perhaps make it self-only. This would help enforce the tanky part of his kit at the cost of the mage/supportive aspect.

**E - ** I like this ability, mainly for the movement speed area it leaves, but thematically, it almost feels like it has the wrong focus. Being a skillshot fits a mage, but I don't exactly see Galio as a Mage.

  • If changed, I feel it should keep the movement speed area. Beyond that, I think it should be changed from a Skillshot into a Dash/Leap type of ability. Leaping/Flying into the fray to draw the attention of his enemies, rather than blowing a big gust of wind.

**R - ** The iconic Galio ability, everyone knows this is what Galio can do. It's also a bit unwieldy to use to its maximum effectiveness, similar to Amumu's and Nunu's ults. Get in, ult, and hope you don't get interrupted or killed.

  • If changed, I wouldn't know what to do with it. It's probably going to be adjusted in some way, but hopefully, it will still work fairly similarly. Alternately, maybe moving portions of Galio's W onto his Ult could work.

Overall, I feel that Galio could lose his Passive and Q, change his E into a Dash or Leap, and adjust his W and R a bit.

His W is definitely not a generic shield... Have you ever seen it? It doesn't give a shield, it increases armor and mr and heals galio per hit.

I fear the ult is both iconic and a major reason why he needs a rework...

Just like old Poppy ult...

What they need to do and I have been saying this for a long long time is - make him turn to stone when ulting so that he cant be interupted, I mean out of 10 time i ulti maybe 2-3 times it will get canceled immediately and 2 more times after 1-2 seconds, thats half the ultis going to trash can. I agree, other abilites, while I love them all, are outdated and can go (maybe W can stay, but its toxic honestly, it needs changes). And RIOT, if you change the ulti name, I will find you and I will kick you in the ass multiple times !

I'll probably get a lot of hate but...

I really would rather see him lose the ult and get something fresh and inventive. Galios R is too similar to Nunu's R that it just feels like a cheap repackaged version of it. When the game was first getting off its feet it wasn't such a bother but with new tech comes new horizons and and Galio could benefit.

Getcuxcd9/1/2016, 5:18:51 PM1 votes

yeah sure keep the ult but they can nerf it alittle bit aswell if his abilities become way too strong.. i mean galio isnt a bad champ at all just not popular but trust me hes very viable and strong no need to get crazy here.

specter4249/1/2016, 4:09:53 PM1 votes

his ult sucks lol you have to flash to get a decent ult but if they have a cancerbraum or qss or udyr gl

SanKakU9/2/2016, 12:14:54 AM1 votes

I think the ultimate is the only thing that needs major changes other than the fact that he needs better stats scaling. He should have MR scaling, not just AP scaling everywhere. Rammus and Malphite have armor scaling stuff, so Galio needs it too.

JakiStow9/2/2016, 10:01:21 AM1 votes

I'm pretty sure that they are aware of the signature moves of the champions they created...

Xela Syab9/2/2016, 1:30:59 AM1 votes

They should just rework Galio to be a true countermage, his w should lose that heal bonus (maybe mana heal) and give allies cc prevention like Morg, and his q needs to stun or his e needs to knockback so he gets some hard cc pre 6.

I personally think that his passive is the most iconic part of his kit, but I think that it would really just be added as MR scalings to abilities, because besides him, there is really no other super strong magic damage counter. His W is also awesome. I personally think that his ultimate is one of the most flawed parts of his kit right now, because late game, if you land it against 4-5 champs including a lot of ADC's or Yi, you will die during your ultimate or just after it because of how much damage you took during it. I don't like this because Galio is being punished for landing a good ult at this point.

Blue Moon Wolf9/2/2016, 3:25:11 AM1 votes

I really wouldn't worry about his Ult. Every rework so far has been about trying to keep what is Iconic about each champ since that's what is considered their "core" gameplay (Sion sheild and old ult mechanic, Poppy dive/ tankiness, Taric armor affinity and ability effects and Shen taunt/Ult) , and Galio's Ult is pretty much his bread and butter. If I were to say what parts of him are the most likely to get reworked in order, I'd go with his Q first, then his E, then his W, followed by his passive and the last thing they would change is his Ult.

Witch of Babylon9/1/2016, 3:50:43 PM1 votes

Idk why but I think they're gonna keep his magic blast.

Bladerunner77779/1/2016, 5:22:16 PM1 votes

Well no shit

There's absolutely no way Riot would delete his ult, who would even think about removing it in the first place?
