Placements

I have an issue that I have no idea how it could be fixed, maybe by your ranking within a game S+/S rank, but the issue is placements as a support. I main support and find that as support you sacrifice the ability to "carry" a game to play the position, but the trade off seems to be 0. No matter if you get S rank every game during your placements, which I got 8 out of 10, but lost 9 of the 10 games played (two 4v5 do to afk) I still just get placed in low elo. Its amazingly frustrating knowing that you play at a different level but it doesn't matter. I analyze games all the time, have warding charts, timing charts, team comps built, all sorts of stuff that I am pretty sure most people don't even contemplate. But bc I am a support main and don't "duo" with higher elo players I am screwed. I feel something needs to be changed. I don't know what and yes this is a little emo of a post but I am sure I am not the only one who has this issue.

Rest assured, plenty of people have gotten to Diamond+ just by playing support, and you are solely responsible for your elo. I have no idea how they do it, but they do.

A competent support can be very influential on the game, especially in lower ELOs.

This is primarily because the enemy support is (or at least used to be in previous seasons) likely to be unfamiliar with the role, leaving you pretty much uncontested as you apply pressure (warding the enemy jungle, invading with your jungler, roaming mid to gank, initiating/disengaging fights, etc).

A good support is terrifying, especially when the enemy's support isn't competent/experienced enough to contest them.

the majority of those do not solo play support and only pick up support after getting to higher elos. I am not saying that a good support doesn't influence the game but you have to duo to rank up as support. I can land amazing thresh hooks or morgana binds but means nothing if no follow up.

That is a fallacy that you are telling yourself to pat your ego. Push through it, because you're not going to climb until you accept that you're responsible for your own elo.

I too mained support in placements and lost after the first one. If you do not get a decent ADC or if your scrub ADC tries to all in higher elos and dies then you have to do your best to carry. I went like 6 4 17 with naut in one of my placements and had the most kills on the team... as a suppport... full support build. Team literally could not team fight and now im in bronze 2 was s4. But whatever i need to play better so its not a terrible thing it just sucks because this is not my elo and it will take time i dont have to climb out. Best advice is to play like Annie Morgana Brand to do dmg and actually carry the game. If your ADC is scrub... take everything. He isnt useful if he isnt at teamfights in the firstplace so take his cs and kills they are yours now and climb buddy.

I was placed mid silver and I'm mid gold now, doing almost nothing but solo supporting (occasionally I actually get bot instead of sup, but that's rare as one might expect). Even if placements are unfortunate sometimes, climbing back to where you belong doesn't take very long since if you do belong higher (and have the mmr to show it) then you'll be getting like 25 LP per win so it's a smooth climb.

If promo series get flubbed by afks or whatever, promo helper exists now so even those are a tiny hurdle.
