discussion: should you be punished for dodging champ select while in promos?

title, do you think it is a good or bad idea to remove the removal from promos and give the player a chance to dodge an unfavourable team comp?

i only see 1 downside to this which is: the 9 other players will simply have to wait 5 seconds more because DQ is so quick at finding people to play in games

meanwhile there is many upsides such as the player who has dodged having a more favourable comp or suddenly having something important pop up and they have to work on that instead, giving them a chance to play later and finish their promos without being forced to go back to them again

idk, just a thought i had because i dodged a match where a player was about to 1st time fizz and hadnt played in 5 days

I personally think that in regards to things like promos, LP loss in ranked, and even queue dodge penalty everyone should get ONE and only free dodge per day with no penalty. Hopefully this won't cause too many more dodges just because people are picky assholes, but it can let people get out of a horrible situation if things really look like crap or if they think someone is going to troll or grief.

Now, if you dodge, requeue, and then dodge again, then you should get EXTRA penalties because come on man, you just had a freebie. Don't abuse this stuff.

i dont think it should be autoloss on promos. I think it should count as 1 loss in the series.

should you be punished by time penalties at all when dodging ranked games?

all it does is increase que times by removing players from the que. people are already incentivised not to dodge due to the increasing lp loss.

Promos don't really matter. What matters is your MMR. Since dodging doesn't affect your MMR, it's usually advantageous to dodge a troll game rather than play it out, even if you're in your promo.

Since MMR doesn't decrease with a dodge but your LP and/or League might, the more you dodge, the further above your LP and/or League your MMR becomes. The further above your LP/League your MMR is, the more LP you gain per win. In fact, if your MMR is high enough relative to your LP / Rank, you can even skip games in your promos, or skip promos altogether.

The only time the promo actually matters is when your personal skill is right at the edge of a Division, such as being right in between a very good Silver I player and a really lousy Gold 5 player, since at this point it's all luck for you as to whether or not you advance, and you can luck into additional rewards or you can flunk out on a fluke.

I was in a lobby once, and someone said they were in their promos, Im guessing to get into Gold 5.

Then... our mid steals our jungles champ (Bard), and we now have a Bard mid... ugh.... ok.... ummmm.... So in retaliation, our would be Bard jg instead locks in Sona jg..... ugh.... somebody get the troll spray... I asked that someone else dodge because Iv dodged twice that day and didnt want a really long penalty timer.

Fortunately I didnt have to dodge, someone else dodged. The assclowns that picked Bard mid and Sona jg were almost certainly duo queue based on their names, further attention being paid and all after this feat of trolling. They also got away with that, forcing others to dodge their stupidity, and had no penalty timer, and didnt get reported for troll picking.

One of the take-away notions here is DO NOT tell people your in your promos in the lobby. Maybe say it as a begging point when asking your team to untilt and focus on winning when they start typing novels at each other and how stupid their mothers are for not aborting each other and so on.

What we need is a Dodge and Report button. A tool to take a screenshot, log the chat, and allow a report to be typed up against a player(s) in that lobby. You still get the dodge penalty as always, but we could add flags to people who troll in champ select.

Yes, because you are skewing the odds. And it should be about skill.

Yes. If you dodge intentionally, you are giving 9 other people a bad time.
