It seems nobody cares how good Exhaust is on non-supports; specifically on immobile mages to counter assassins. Heal won't save you, Barrier will save you 1/10 times, but Exhaust will neuter their burst and give you a chance to fight back. And if you get ahead, Exhaust is will still cripple them beyond any chance of killing you.

Karthus has a favorable matchup against LeBlanc, why wouldn't he be able to do the same against Zed?

Karthus is often picked vs melee assassins. Take exhaust, 3 ranks in Q, max your aoe afterwards. They all in you? Exhaust them for ultra ez Q's with your aoe on. They will almost always die before you do.

Because karthus is actually good.

His R lets him dominate every phase of the game, Kill enemies who barely survive 1v1's without even being there, and free 550 +.6 AP during/after every teamfight on EVERY champion.

He is great for just about everything but cc. And if fed, can FORCE squishies to build MR
