Normal player tries something different = troll, you suck, ur bad
Pro player tries something different = INSTANTLY META, THE GOD, AMAZING, OP
Pro player tries something different = INSTANTLY META, THE GOD, AMAZING, OP
Pro player spends his / her entire life playing practicing and improving with his / her champion pool. Pro player finds a undiscovered or under used build and uses it, and he is praised for it.
Average player logs in and decides to play ap jungle draven, fails and wonders why his team is angry.
You do not see the difference in the two ?
Ok but I'm pretty sure "AP jungle Draven" is a huge stretch that I'm sure no one would take and bit of an over-exaggeration.

just this week I had a ap braum jungle, ama.
I had a Braum Jungle once as well.
We won (surprisingly).

AP Braum works almost as well as AP Garen. It's not the AP scaling, it's the secondary effects the AP items have that makes the build "theoretically" work. Most of the time, however, it doesn't pan out very well.

Yeah, the difference is that they're two completely different scenarios. The OP isn't talking about trying someone completely out of their position, role, and standard build. People in the community get slammed just for trying an alternate ADC build when there's nothing wrong at all with that sort of experimentation.

Well his op left a lot of wiggle room.
That said, if he is talking rushing bt on caitlyn instead of ie then that is ok I guess. IF he tells his team first he is experimenting with new builds. If he does not tell them, what are they to think ?
Kats core item
is being removed and I myself have been experimenting with what item I will be rushing first. I make sure when the games load to explain to my teams what I am doing so as to avoid the obligatory wtf kat, why are you building a gunblade comments.
Generally if you are upfront with people they are much more prone to accept what you are doing.

The entire point here is that so long as a person is still building within their intended role, and they aren't hemorrhaging gold and xp while doing so, they shouldn't be told that they're failing at playing that champion. My roommate, for instance, uses a very odd build on Kalista and I give him a hard time about it just because we're friends, but I'm not going to say that he's a bad Kalista because he makes it work VERY well. People shouldn't ask why you're building a Gunblade so long as it's working, and people shouldn't have to explain that they're trying something new so long as it isn't going against the core of what makes a character tick.

To an extent I agree with you, but you do have a responsibility to spend your teams gold efficiently . If you are not going the perceived correct path, you should be prepared to explain why without being salty.
That gold you have is the teams gold, not yours. After all this is a team game.
When you can play the meta like a pro, you can break the meta like a pro. k?
I have no plan to go pro, so i have no reason to follow the meta.
Does it work when normal players do it? Does it work when pro players do it?
Normal player tries something different = troll, you suck, ur bad Pro player tries something different = INSTANTLY META, THE GOD, AMAZING, OP
I'm pretty sure the same exact people would respond to the pro by saying they're a troll, suck, and are bad.
As a pro they still have to actually practice (fail a lot) with different strategies before they start working, and they're only praised if they manage to pull off the change in strategy in front of a lot of people. So, no pressure. Watch any tournament and you'll quickly see unconventional picks that don't do that well are often called into question by other pros and the commentators. The language is more gentlemanly but the overall thought is the same. Nooblord lost because he can't pick the right champion for the job.
Get an off pick to work wonders in normals and you're met with the same praise as the pros more often than not as well. Carry hard with a Urgot, you've got a lot of +honor in your near future.
Dealing with the situation is more about giving no bothers about what other people think of you and practicing so you can change minds.
Picking meta picks is about being to lazy to explain yourself or learn what works through trial and error more than anything else.
