I went like 2-0 in lane but this illaoi doesn't fall off or anything, every time I'm about to win a fight and BOOOM she ult and I'm insta dead....
But just in general about the laning phase with illaoi, too balance......

basically you just have to walk away when she ults. thats it.
unless you know you can burst her through massive healing, you just need to walk away when she ults. especially if she got your spirit on top of that ult.
Illaoi is also a juggernaut so they naturally are gonna be lane bullies since they are way less useful in team fights. Illaoi has a terribad design where she has to be this strong to even be viable. and like shes obnoxious, but shes balanced in the sense that she can't 1 v 5 a team who knows how to play against her. She's not graves, for example.
I think they need to go back and look at her kit. overall its interesting, but the E and ult seem lackluster. ult you can walk away from, and her E is toxic to play against.

Inquisitor Kane1 votesThis is true actually. Illaoi was buffed in tank meta because she could not deal with tanks. Then tanks went away from top and Illaoi buffs stayed.
The only reason why she is not being nerfed is that nobody plays her and if you wvade her tentacles she loses a lot of damage.
Still i don't think this is a good game design - she doesn't have to play good, but it is you who have to play perfect... otherwise you lose.

Only ever being able to capitalize on enemy mistakes feels terrible, there is no way to force the enemy to mess up, and even if they do they have more options for escape because juggernauts have no mobility at all.

Mobile juggernaut wouob be busted as fck :D But I get what you're saying and agree. Juggernauts are badly designed class. The main idea is great but the way they did it is quite wrong.
I never see a good juggernaut. They either fail miserably or go super sayan. Nothing in between and that is not good for the gameplay.

The class needs a toward enemy only gap closer, they can only go in on a fight and never out that keeps them from turning into assassins. This could be in a form of an item only a Juggernaut would want to use, which I have some ideas on actually.

Good game design? The points you gave me how to outplay her are the most generic ones. Basically you said i need to be better than illaoi player to get around her but that goes for any champion.
Also nobody plays her unless.she is overbuffed. That means she is not fun to play. Add high skill cap and yo7 have a badly designed champ.
Look at Shaco. In this state he is crap unless you play tons of games and get good. But even if you fail you have fun or some cool moments. Not g9nna happen with Illaoi.
And if I say you are right and Illaoi is ballanced unless she plays against braindead team and gets super fed.... add boringness and you have a bad game design. Or not?

Well, maybe we just look at this from different view points. For me champion who is not fun to play is badly designed champion as well. Except Illaoi mains I never heared anybody to say that she is fun to play. Only that she is broken in low elo and they play her for freelo. Because nobody dodges skillshots and such.
Same goes for Morde. I tried him, I like him and surviving 1v2 with 100hp is fun.... b7t he is also wo badly designed his kit is not fun to play. It's fun to get kills because nobody knows what he does but he is not fun to play.
And this game is about playing champions. And if someone is not played unless broken, not even in normals.... and add to it unplayability on highest levels and that is just a cherry on the top.

I mean, you can't really explain 'why' it's fun to play as a champion sometimes. It's just enjoyable.
Personally, I like octopi and squid and cuttlefish and all the other tentacle animals a ton, and Illaoi has a ton of direct tentacle usage (whereas Vel'Koz is more just voidstuff)
