give dc'd players increased gold and experience generation already

Just had a game where two players on both sides dc'd, AT THE SAME TIME. Not blaming riot for it, but it would have been nice if these players could have come back to the game without playing with a huge deficit, for something that wasnt even their fault.

I came back into the game (I was one of the players who experienced the dc) and I was majorly behind the other team, and it felt really bad. The stupid thing is this could have been EASILY avoided if I just had increased gold generation (w/e seems appropriate) and experience generation. These two things would not only be pretty easy to implement, but would MAjORLY help game health.

I'd just like if a person is reconnecting to game the 1st time when everyone's already in game, give the dc person the speed boost that everyone else used to have for the first few seconds after 0:15 secs when the gates open. It would give the dc person an opportunity to catch up to lane, preventing them from falling behind from a small incident.

i've never understood this either tbh

They get XP just fine. The catchup mechanic in that fashion is really pretty good.

Increased gold generation would have to be balanced very carefully so that it doesn't become a strat to DC and then come back if you're getting zoned in lane.

Rewarding teams that have a DC wouldn't realistically be good for the game, as offering any incentives for someone to leave has a lot of downsides.

From harassing players that are doing poorly as not having them on the team would be objectively better to competitive teams deliberately running with 4 members; there is a lot of bad and a lot of abuse cases you run into with trying to compensate a team for having a leaver.

On the design side: you also run into issues with 5 people winning and 4 people loosing being better than 5 people loosing and 4 people winning. LoL is also a hardcore game that rewards teamwork and actually playing the game, which is at odds with rewarding teams that have a leaver.

It does feel bad when you have a leaver on your team, but I'm not sure there's many realistic solutions to that problem outside of pursuing a smarter matchmaking system that's capable of avoiding players that are going to DC. The idiot-tests with queue-pops, champ lock-in, and ban lock-in are a step in the right direction here: as the subtle annoyance they offer is eclipsed by the leavers they're kicking out.

you seem really confused, so let me help you. It's not REWARDING players, its making it so that they if and when they come back from a dc they can still be of help to their team, thats the point of this. It goes without saying that it would have to balanced carefully so that its not better to be dc, but I thought that was so obvious at this point it didnt need spelling out.

It's not an incentive to leave, its a catchup and fair use mechanic.
