Just get rid of ally minion block.

Totalis··216 votes·5,729 views

like seriously, my OWN minions should not be the reason I had to burn a summoner to get a kill because they barred my own way. On blue side bot lane, when you have the enemies under tower, and you're pressuring them, my OWN minions should NOT keep me in place for 1 second too many, causing me to die.

it makes no sense for allied minions to get in your way. Enemy minions are fine, because they're ENEMIES, but not allied. Sure champions like hecarim, fizz, and ones who have built phantom dancer might lose some of their COMPLETELY OUT OF PLACE little bonus, but there will still be enemies they can walk through, not to mention champions.

Plz Rito, just think about. Consider it.

There is a very, very good reason you can't just stand on top of your own creeps. I'm sure you can figure out that reason.

Considering there are options that can allow you to cut through your own minions is reason enough why it should be fine.

If the reason is regarding denying CS, then I must ask: How many times have you been denied CS? Whether its with an item that can ignore minion collision or whether it's someone who does it anyway, like Janna or Fizz?

Because in all honesty, even if people can do it, it doesn't really mean they will. I mean hell, if I have to refer to LCS, fuck it. I've never seen LCS try it when they have things that can ignore unit collision.

Dengeden19 votes

You want every champion that gets ahead to be able to deny CS? Cool.

Its a mechanic you have to work around its called positioning maybe its something you should work on.

for someone who's been playing since season 1, has over ranked 880+ games this season alone, and still only barely got that gold icon, you really need to watch yourself when it comes to insulting others and telling them what they need to improve on, especially if they also happen to be over an entire tier above you. Unless you bought that account, which would be extremely funny to me as it only further proves my point.

damn son, you want a dick swinging contest so bad but you're slick looking across the urinal partition to see if you can win first. rude af.

As untactful as he was....he wasn't wrong

LeeDark5 votes

No, he was wrong. Being plat or higher doesn't exempt someone from being bad at one particular part of the game. And since he pulled out the "you bought that account" card, it can just as easily be used against his own moronic ass. There are very good reasons allied minion block exists, and I have difficulty believing anyone who LEGITIMATELY made it to Plat or higher wouldn't know those reasons. For fuck's sake, I'm Silver and I understand those reasons perfectly.

Shonjl1 votes

Actually being higher tier generally mean more knowledge and skill at the game.

So a Gold telling someone Plat or Diamond what is right or wrong is kinda foolish. Sure the higher ranked guys could be wrong, but they are more often than not more knowledgeable than people below them, hence the entire reason there is a ranking.

Higher ranking means better. And to be fair, the guy that started the arugement is hardly being nice himself.

Zexion1 votes

Some of the worst players I've ever seen are in Plat. By far. To be honest, gold was substantially better than plat in my personal experience. The main difference is plat players seem to think they're 'way better than gold players'.

LeeDark1 votes

Wrong, there are LOTS of ways to be "better" at the game. I have seen players who play only one champion, and they reach Diamond without knowing a metric fuckton about the game in general and other champions. There are people like me, who are physically handicapped and never going to be able to have the mechanics to progress very far, but could beat any high MMR player in a test of knowledge about the game. I know, because I've done it.

Worse still, it wasn't a Plat arguing against a Gold. It was a Plat arguing that his personal experience trumps statistically significant evidence. That's just a special kind of stupid.

Tier does not mean necessarily know more. Also it's heavily suspect when anyone calls someone out about tier.

does Jeremy Lin have any right to tell Lebron what he needs to improve on?

HexaDecimel7 votes

If Jeremy Lin is correct in his assessment then I see no issue with it. In any case Lebron doesn't need to accept the advice, but he can try it out and then determine if he agrees. To flat out reject advice because one person feels that they are better than another is extremely foolish.

However I am not really sure why basketball is being brought up as a comparison on a league board. Never the less I am pretty sure Lebron doesn't go running around the court looking up other players statistics and trying to publicly put them down or show that he has superior stats.

This whole conversation is the reason people say the LoL community is cancer

Shonjl2 votes

Sadly there is a fine line when it comes to high tier people nowadays. There is the good ones that generally try to give advice and actually care enough to help others improve. And then there is others that want to show off when most people don't care too much and often these are the people making smurfs and act tough to lower rankings since they are scared to face people that can beat them so would rather fight people below them.

magic pole3 votes

at first i hated the block, but played a few games now and i have to agree.!

it's another mechanic to worry about. pretty nice.

Halo8 votes

The problem i have with it is that IT HAS NO DAMM FUNCTION AND IS BUGGY AS FCK.

The minion block is not consitant at all. You can sometieme clip trough and sometimes not. The champions pathign doesnt take minions in to account wich means that if minions are blocking your path your champ will try to run trhough them only to realize that it wont work. Its not consitant, its doesnt add anyhting to the game its just really fckign anoying.

In dota 2 this is actually a mechanic of the game. It adds depth and it aint buggy as fck. You can block you minions so that they get to lane later so that the lane meet closer to your own turret etc and the ai is actually predictible in some ways. On top of that your heroes pathing isnt retarded, so you hero walks AROUND them instead of in to them.

tl;dr: Its buggy, champions arent pathing after it and it doesnt add anyhting much. Riot should keep it but not have it this anoying.

When attacking a tower as a melee champion...how do i position myself properly when the caster minions form a perfect barrier behind me, lined up nice and neat in a half circle creating impassible terrain? Your saying its my fault i had to flash my own "team" to get to saftey?

You dont let the minions attack the tower if there is too many of them to safly attack the tower or move around them. Its really not hard.... Oh btw i main katarina mid along with talon both are melee and i have no issues with this.

PerishSoftly2 votes

Katarina can E to a minion to get out of the minion block while Talon can obliterate his lane opponent and flee into the jungle with his speed boost. You're not exactly helping your argument there.

Then maybe you should play katarina or talon or you should have watched your positioning better. The mechanic has been in the game since release. Why should it be removed now? Also talon doesn't get a speed boots after killing someone.

RetroRage961 votes

Tradition does not constitute functionality. Minion block has substantially gotten worse this patch, and I don't think it has ever been this influential and punishable.

And this debate is not about player skill, it is about the mechanic. You don't need to be bashing everybody who is trying to exchange ideas with you.

S H A Y C 01 votes

I have gotten stuck in a minion wave just trying to walk down the lane and been unable to change course. I have also been blocked by my own minions at a downed tower unable to move and get to 80 hp opponent because my own minions came and surrounded me during a scirmish

RetroRage961 votes

I don't see how that's related to what I said.

Saying no one implys everyone doesn't like it. I'v been in the game since it released and i dont mind it at all. Sure this patch might of made it worst but its still a mechanic you must think about before you position your self in game. So like i said its a matter of opinion for you.

Chespin201315 votes

You seriously want the enemy team to stand on top of their minions denying you from CS? Because that's the real reason why allied minion block exist.

Audiomancy10 votes

Alternatively, they could just fix the atrocious pathing issues that have popped up with the last few patches.

GlitterPunch6 votes

It's really not that hard to figure out guys. Anyone saying that you can't fix the pathing because it leads to CS blocking seriously lacks critical thinking skills.

It's very simple, you make the champion _**PUSH THROUGH **_minions instead of walking over them. I know, crazy concept. It's used quite effectively in starcraft 2 and it will work in this game.

But what will we ever to without the supreme effectiveness of that AMAZING phantom dancer creep passive that, actually, nobody gives a crap about, because, actually, it's not amazing, it's boring and weird?

Nin10do00145 votes

On the bright side, Riot has stated in another thread that they are aware of this issue and that they are working on a solution in the upcoming patch.

Asayake 5150glow3 votes

I mean, why is this a thing? (besides blocking your own minions for a bit to delay the wave)

Shyvauni2 votes

That is exactly why it is a thing.

Remlap12232 votes

So it's worth all the frustration and lack of counterplay to it because it does its original job?

Just because setting your face on fire prevents zits doesn't mean that you should advocate 3rd degree burns as a new acne treatment.

Shyvauni4 votes

The number of people who have an issue with allied creep block is a minority. Is it annoying? Yes.

Is it as obtrusive as you make it out to be? No

Nilok2 votes

Creep blocking has become much more of an issue this preseason than before. Riot has done something to creep blocking recently that is causing problems.

Billy VoHagen4 votes

So you can't deny enemies cs.

Akenero3 votes

currently only a couple of champs can do this , without items or ghost Fizz, kassadin, draven(all i can think of)

But thats such a tiny part of them it shiuld just be standardized

EcchiOtakuTM3 votes

Then going inside minions to block skillshots will get out of hand instead of being for the select few who have a passive for it.

RISE Shlack1233 votes

Yes, but in old-style battles of the bronze/iron ages, allies would indeed body-block each other. This is no different. You're minions aren't going to become ethereal just because they are your allies.

If anything, Riot could introduce a mechanic where minions moved out of your way, but they still have a delay while they move. But I don't think they should just ignore friendly unit collision at all. It's something you have to play around.

Xosra2 votes

Also while your at it make it so i can't heal minions as soraka. I can't tell you how many times i target an ally only to have accidently clicked a minions instead.

Steelflame3 votes

Minion healing is actually pretty useful for taking down towers/screwing enemy CSing up, specially if you combo it with a Banner of Command to make a super-amped cannon minion you can spam heals on for the tower purpose.
