Why Don't People Play Skarner?
Currently, he is the least played in the NA region. I have absolutely no idea why! I just picked him up and he's loads of fun! Plus, he's the closest we can get to dominion. Does he have some glaring flaw I've missed?

Because his current state is bad. Riot doesn't really know what to do with Skarner
There isnt a glaring issue, hes just not popular, he never really has been. He got a rework, got played a lot, then quickly faded back into obscurity.
Plus, he's the closest we can get to dominion.
Here you have your answer. Most players hate mini game passives and would like to not be confined to those restricted zone in the jungle in order to do damage.
He's awkward, doesn't fit well into a team composition, requires a relatively good understanding of the champion to play well, and others can accomplish his general role more effectively with less effort.
He feels like a tanky cc bit but not in a good way imo. I would also say he is a situational pick. Having a champ that is strong on a predetermined part of the map is bad design. There is nothing fun or cool about that imo. Skarner could be a really cool champ but even when he had a 60% winrate his rework sucked.
There are just so many other champs that feel better to play. Skarner's kit is the most mini game focused. Hell if he could drop a crystal on a cooldown that the enemy can destroy it would be better than the current idea. Personally I think they should get rid of the crystals. Thats all just my opinion though.
