can we remove the smite lock on jungle items? you know, just in case your jungler forgets smite, the game isn't instantly dead.

probably not going to happen, given the smite lock was added before either of those items were added in the first place (The items were stack sticks called Magus and Juggernaut).
Because of the monster hunter penalty, if you're even decently good at farming, you'd be spending money on a useless smite upgrade (since Tracker's Knife is gone and you wouldn't be able to use Stalker's Blade or Skirmisher's Sabre's smites) and the enchants are mostly just dumbed down versions of larger items. You're also giving up control over your buffs and the drake and the baron because you won't have smite to secure them. Giving you access to the jungle items would definitely help, but unless you're nunu you've put yourself at a severe disadvantage anyway.
