Do you want to know why Doran's Shield hasn't been buffed?

Back when the item was useful. tank supports would start Doran's shield and be pretty much invincible and make the enemy ADC worthless. A Nautilus or Leona support with a Doran's with the new keystone would be impossible to damage.

If your support doesn't do a lot of damage like a Janna or Soraka that lane is going to lose.

So you're saying Doran's Shield would be an investment for early game but would fall off hard as the opposing support fuels his gold income, providing vision and buffs for his ADC?

Sounds like a fair trade off to me.

So basically a dumb reason because noone's going to give up gold generation for that.
