As a member of the glorious Diamond bracket and also an Evelynn main, I feel this is my area of expertise.

The best tip I can give a budding Evelynn player is that build and masteries are extremely flexible. You should build based on who you are playing against and if the enemy is not a direct counter, go straight burst damage... otherwise build some defenses. Maneuverability is Evelynn's trump card and she must be played extremely cautiously.

But more specifically, here are some 'tips'; Go Thunderlord's Decree (Almost always) or Fervor (Sometimes) will give you a combo basis to burst all ADC/APC from 100-0 if they don't start stacking MR. against point-and-click disabling/nuking enemies that you will desperately struggle to survive (Ex: , etc.)

Do not try to win early game, Evelynn has some of the worst clears in the game and dying in a failed forced gank attempt is pretty much a death sentence. Early-mid game is where Evelynn shines so as the other guy said, be patient.

Kite camps between autos to take less damage. Do practice in custom games.

Ravage applies on hit effects, does not apply life steal or spell vamp, and you cannot use Hate Spikes during the animation.

Hate Spikes does not have a cast animation.

True Sight from towers and still reveal you even if you are not in there line of sight if the other team has vision of you from another source; same for champions in the case of being in a bush that has a regular ward in it.

Learn to abuse line of site to get closer than your passive normally allows.

Knowing what fights you can take, which champions can get out of ganks without , and predicting where the enemy jungler are all very important and take a lot of practice to get right.

Wasting time will quickly put you behind. When behind if you gank loosing lanes you will likely just give up another kill.

Be patient. I think that is the best tip you can give on Eve.
