Idea for The Forgotten Tanks Anyone ?

I'm trying to create a smart discussion about tanks here. Please stay respectful. Thanks.

TL;DR : -Pure Tanks need some sort of buff. Creating an item that REDIRECT damage instead of reducing it is an idea that went through my mind.

The main problem with tanks is mainly the ennemy damage dealers can either ignore you, either destroy you before you can do enough in a teamfight being a tank. Currently being a 100% tank is nothing rewarding. if you get, say Cho'Gath and build full tank, people can just safely ignore you. You still have 2'ish CC and a source of true damage, but past that... people can just run around you/slice you down because of last whisper. This goes for most of tanks right now. Once their CC is done, if your team didn't have the damage/couldn't cut someone down, the fight is one sided.

I don't know if nerfing Last Whisper would actually be THAT good for tanks. (well at least it could reduce a bit of the damage).

The best thing coming to my mind that could happen to FULL tanks right now would be a cost-heavy item that either allows you to reduce the damage of close range ennemy champions by redirecting the damage onto you (maybe with a small damage reduc) (ACTIVE ITEM), or an item that allows to reduce the damage of close friendly champions takes by redirecting the damage on you. (Toggle) (Maokai similar but instead of % reduc simply redirecting it) or something along these lines.

Nothing giving offensive stats. Giving more damage to tank item would just create heavier, harder to kill bruiser. By creating an item along these lines MIGHT create some problems if balanced incorrectly. And it's exactly why it should be an AoE damage reduction instead of a targeting ability. If you target someone to deal less damage, it becomes a huge problem for assassins and carries in general. The same goes for the defensive version (you basically just create an "unkillable" carry)

You could also make some sort of scaling of percent with these items (like per level or per stats).

I'd love to hear other suggestions ! I miss my competitive tanks :(

Honestly a lot of Tanks need scaling changes, specific itemization while useful won't really help them.

It should be : TL;DR tanks are dead.

I'm pretty sure some people have ideas, just don't be shy. The more ideas/problem targetted can help. Riot can fix it but feeding them ideas is the best way to help them.

Riot needs to add defensive stat scaling to tanks.

What would this accomplish? One, we would be able to figure out from the scaling who they consider tanks. This guy scales with MR and Armor? Great, he's a tank.

But more importantly, this allows Riot to address tanks separately from the bruiser role/class. Every time tank items are too good, the game turns into 'League of Bruisers,' and while tank items are bad, tanks are dead. This has been a common thing since bruisers existed.

The scaling doesn't have to be great. You know utility scaling for supports? It can start off that low/bad and alter as we get a grasp of the change. This has the potential to solve the tank problem.

And it can be done, a fucking item has defense scaling, at least 2 (item 3512 item 3143 ), and some champions already have scaling built into their kits Galio Rammus ) that, in my opinion, keep them a force even when they are tanky. Well, Galio has other problems, but still.
