Yasuo's Identity
Hello, I have been inactive for a while, so if the topic discussed here has already gone around, I am sorry.
Yasuo is a melee carry skirmisher, with high mobility and damage, but low defenses. Most of his kit conveys this, focusing specifically on these things. However, my problem with his kit is that his second passive goes against his concept and role as a high-risk, high-reward champion. The main downside of being a melee carry is that he should have to dodge and position himself so he does not take damage. He should have absolutely no provisions for the case in which he does get hit. So, it does not make sense for him to have a shield that only activates when he takes damage, especially one that requires no mechanical skill whatsoever.
I propose that Yasuo either has no second passive, or that it is reworked into an ability that is more coherent with the rest of his identity. Some quick ideas:
- Increase movement speed and deal less critical damage for a short time after being hit
- Increase dash speed after champion kill
- Life steal on champion crits
Also, I think his W - Wind Wall could use a change. It functions both proactively and reactively (because it starts at the back of Yasuo's player model, blocking projectiles that have seemingly hit him) and is often a fire-and-forget ability in teamfights. I propose that it has a drastically lower width, duration, and cast time, dissipating after blocking one projectile, and granting a damage shield (scaling off of AP or level, not AD.) It would function as a counter to one ability, reactive only. It would take mechanical skill and require the constant attention of the player to use effectively, as well as being more consistent with Yasuo's identity, not as a protector, but as a swordsman.
Thank you for reading and have a nice day.
