How do these rank placements work this season?

I am confused. So now it works differently? I started league mid season 5. Season 5 was over and i was unranked. I did 10 placement matches in the preseason, won 5, lost 5. I got silver 3. Now i see plats going to bronze and stuff... i am too scared to play now, i have 2 wins and 3 losses and why are so many ppl getting placed in bronze? My friend told me that preseason rank doesnt matter for this season's placements?? Can someone clear my confusion? Thank you for your time.

It works the same as any other season. The earlier matches are worth more than the later ones. So if you lose the first 5, you're going to be placed lower than if you lost the last 5. Honestly, don't worry about placement matches. As long as you belong higher, you will climb quickly if you get placed lower than expected. There's no "Elo hell" so you have nothing to worry about.
