So I just played against a sated Kayle

After playing against that it made me realize just how bad magic resist is to build. AP champs are normally gate by cooldowns which is why they are allowed to build over 800 AP while AD is normally stuck around 400-500. Say you have a Maw of Malmortius, Banshee's Veil, Spirit Visage and Merc Treads. Before runes and masteries that is 175 magic resist. Two armor items can surpass that.

This is not a QQ Kayle thread. I'm simply using her as an example of how bad Magic resist is because she brings how bad it is front and center since Kayle breaks the normal AP style of being gated by cooldowns.

MR is a little different from armor in that many MR items come with stellar passives, surpassing their AD counterparts in exchange for lower base MR values. MR is often built almost incidentally by many champions, with many strong offensive and utility items being bought with the MR as a side note rather than the main course (Abyssal, Athene's, Locket, etc). This does have the unfortunate effect that there really isn't an item out there for MR that's bought purely for magic resist reasons, while there are several for armor.

It would be nice to see a heavy MR item in the style of the old Force of Nature that offers a spell reflect passive, like an MR version of thornmail.

I find MR super powerful if you're a burst mage.

Kayle passive shreds 15% of your mr with a void staff that is 45% add in masteries and your at 50+% shredded.

However Mr is not as worthless as Armor.

If you have J4 and Wukong. Both of them have armor shred on their q's. 26% on j4 30% on wukong. item 3071 is another 30%. Add on a item 3035 and your adc deals true damage with only 1 pen item on the adc. Oh and you can build a Full ad team if you have j4 wukong.........
