Vladimir Main Rant

I just read about riot wanting to change Vladimir because apparently he is is pain to deal with.... Seriously?

I'll be honest, I hate this champ more than I love him, he has good sustain but crappy damage and defenses early on. He does not benefit that well from most of the keystone masteries and I have settled for Deathfire Grasp on him. People that say he has no counter play are freaking kidding me. The only thing that is annoying on him is his pool, and even then it costs 20% of his health. He is countered greatly by ANYTHING that has %health damage, gap closers, grievous wounds, or any mage that can chunk him (NOW EVEN MORE THANKS TO THUNDERLORD) Hmm... I wonder who or what. Fiora DrMundo Gnar Vayne LeeSin Kindred Yasuo Leblanc Pantheon Riven Talon MonkeyKingIrelia summoner 14 item 3153 item 3036

I am sure there is more, but mind you, I have not played in a about a month I believe. His spell rotation is pretty horrible, it takes more than his ult, 4 stacks of e, q, and w, to kill anybody who has more than 50% health. (Exaggerated number but you get the point.) Meanwhile, MOST champions AND mages, if not all, can all in you any time past level 6 with their ult and you having 100% health no problem, again now made easier thanks to thunderlord. His pool is pretty much useless at this point because it is such a major health loss which he can't gain back thanks to the never before mentioned glitch in which opponents can deal damage to you as soon as you come out of the pool but yet you can't do the same.

Honestly, the only reason I won my games as him is because I knew all i had to do was farm while the enemy tried their best to kill me and ended up 60 cs in 20 minutes trying to roam bot to get kills. (I play him mid by the way, he is terrible top.)

Playing against a Vladimir, I'm sorry I got to say was the free-est of wins ever. I know all of his ins and outs. He is one of those champs that sounds good on paper but is terrible in game. People think he gets a huge power spike when he gets the revolver but honestly, by that time you as an opponent should have gotten enough to either take less damage or deal more, and in most cases both. He will get a small addition to his AP but his weak defenses render him useless. Good job healing twice the amount but taking 4 times as much as damage and dealing proportionally less.

Our main problem with Vlad is his Q. It's a low CD, targeted, resourceless spell that restores health. It doesn't have much interesting decision making for Vlad, if it's ever strong early he just shuts a lot of people out of lane and the main ways to deal with it are to either sustain even more or to punish Vlad really hard when he trades.

That's a big IF riot. Punishing him is not hard at all. He literally has to walk up to you in order to deal damage and it is quite noticiable to read his movements, often times having the vlad player press e thinking they are in range and losing a major part of their damage for his "rotation." I mean, he basically has a 2 spell rotation come on.... 3 if his ridiculously long ult CD is up.

Vlad's also got a bit of a 'stat check' issue, where he'll just reliably outclick a lot of opponents 1v1 without sufficient avenues for being outplayed. That's not ideal, **it's a lesser issue though since it doesn't kick in until later in the game when 1 v 1 counterplay is less important than team v team counterplay." **

Yeah no no no no.... How hard is it to outplay 2 spells that don't deal much and an escape that chunks yourself. If you are lucky as a Vladimir, you will survive simply because the other person chickens out, not knowing your w is down for 20 seconds and your q and e will fail to go off on time.

Talking about solo queue here or LCS? Either way...item 3140 Boom, there is now one less ult to worry about and you are basically fighting a 5 v 4 thanks to his only 2 damage dealing spells being on cooldown.

Why is Vladimir getting the attention when other types of cancer are running loose and rampant, taking advantage of Thunderlord's. Vladimir has not been a problem for the seasons I have played, I have heard he was earlier, but now he doesn't exist. I hate to compare, but he does not need a rework right now, only some bug fixes and maybe some initial damage on his ULT so it can actually finish people off. I understand he is made to be a poke mage, but even then he feels like he is caught in between a poke mage and an assassin, which is cool about him. He doesn't have the distance like Ziggs, Lux, or Xerath, but he can act like them for a while with less care and turn around on you and kill you, if lucky.

tl;dr Vladimir's sustain does not make up for his glitches and crap damage and defense.

Might need to gather my thoughts more clearly but for now this will do, I hope it gets some reads but it doesn't matter, just needed the semi-rant.

Okay, as a Vlad main, he IS annoying to fight.

Vlad has huge damage and survivability. You're playing him wrong if you think otherwise.

item 3001 item 3152 item 3158 item 3157 item 3135 and item 3089 or item 3116. The only exception is absurd amounts of AP where you might even forego an item for the nearly trap-level item 3065 on Vlad.

You have relevant resists, HP, and huge damage/dps if you use CDR runes.

Vlad's issues are his early game sustain, which is never felt because he abuses the lane or gets abused enough that it isn't relevant, his damage consistency (the fact that you can't avoid any of his damage, not the amount that he does), and his ult, which makes it so his kit can never be allowed to be relevant competitively because of the massive power it holds. It will always make him over-bearing if his kit has any amount of significant power.

If you look at the numbers, you get far more sustain from WotA than you ever do from your innate until 400+ AP. Get rid of at least the flat heal on his Q, gate the heal ratio somewhere else on his kit, even if its just that he doesn't get it until level 11. Change the ult. Now he's balance-able. Next, make it so he doesn't automatically do massive damage to anyone in range of him.
