Champion Mastery. . . Question for anyone

As I stated in the title how exactly are we graded on this? I personal don't think much of it but I like to know how things work. I went 10/7/8 with Diana and got an A, not to mention we got pushed around all match and the last engagement we won by luck. I feel at best I did C grade in that match. Then I went jungle Naut going 1/3/17 and got a C. I felt like I did an A+ plus grade with all the ganks and supporting I did for the lanes. (Everyone did really great too though).

So if anyone has information on how this is suppose to work that would be great. Thank you.

EDIT

Also will this help thin out the ranks? I mean as far as people who are more likely to DC/AFK/Rage/etc..?

I got a B+ for going 14-1-3 as Hecarim, ganking all lanes, scoring a legendary kill streak, taking dragons, pushing towers and racking up multiple double kills. So yeah, I think its a bit bugged.

You get graded based on your performance compared to other players playing the same champion in the same role. I imagine they include a variety of stats including CS/minute, K/D/A, % kill participation, damage tanked, damage dealt, and towers destroyed.

Not sure how each stat is weighted. If I were a betting man I'd say they placed value on stats according to the champion. So in that Nautilus game maybe you got outfarmed by the average Nautilus and/or tanked a lot less damage than the average jungle Naut does.

It compares you to other players judging xp per min, gold per mid, what role you are and thee averages. You can go 0-2-0 but if that's better than the average you will be graded highly. I got an A+ on LB support even though I had like 10 cs so it does take into factor where you are at.

My understanding is that it works in a similar way to how LOLKing scores work. It also analyses your CS, KDA and KP. I would have to assume that it also analyses where you spend most of your time in the game (what lane) and then compares all this info to other players who played your lane with that champion.

I just lost a game 6/8/6.

I was Mid Trundle.

I got first tower.

Placed 22 wards (most on my team).

2nd most dmg to champs (we had fiora).

2nd most dmg taken (again, fiora 13/11 btw).

2nd most gold earned. Most spent.

Most farm.

I scored a A+.

Well at least it seems to be on a system. To be honest I thought it was random because Riot loves everything to be random. But do we know if it will filter out people from your mastery level? So as to get and fight against better individuals?
