I trying to move up from Gold 5 to gold 4, but to do so I need to play vs teams with 3x more plat players.
Of course we lost super bad, 11/29 could not even call it a game...
If people can move up in Plat playing vs gold 5/silver players Why can I not move up gold playing Silver 5/bronze players? The logic in this system is very flawed and leads to games being very 1 sided.

The problem with this ranking system is that it doesn't matter where you are on the ladder, your chances of winning are (theoretically) entirely constant if you're playing at a level where your skill level is. This is because the system tries to make balanced games on top of having a ranking system, instead of matching entirely based on rank (i.e. mid golds play with golds, high golds play with golds and low plats, etc). Right now you can easily be in Bronze and play with Master tier players if your MMR is good enough and you just never progress past promotions.
Riot needs to either make MMR the rank or ditch MMR altogether for Ranked.
As long as players are judged solely from win/loss in a team game, the ranking system will never be accurate.
Low MMR plat 5's are arguably the worst players in the game. Them having more plat 5s isn't why you aren't climbing. Those aren't people moving up to plat by playing Silvers/Golds, those are plat 5s with low MMR.
Remove MMR. MMR is based on an ideal and humans are far from being ideals. Anything that goes out of the meta will bring your MMR down. And we can't even know our MMR nor do we know what it's based off..
