Taric rework proposal
So today is day 4 of me posting rework proposals. Like I have said before I will keep going until I run out of ideas, or champions I feel need reworks.
I am hoping to generate some feedback of course, and my end goal remains to work at Riot or just as a concept creator in the industry.
With each one of these I make I can already see my style growing and shaping.

So the next character I am proposing to rework is of course Taric.
But first we need to define what Taric is.
He is a Knight, that uses Gems. That is not a whole lot to go on.
Based on his current skills he is a support with tank like qualities, but has a hard time doing either fully.
He has little to no damage himself, his only buff is his ultimate which is minor unless you factor in an entire team being around him.
But he is a Gem Knight, and that is what I will focus on.
When I think of Knights I think heavy armor, either fighting with strength or protecting the weak.
When I think about gems I think about the differnt colors they can have, even differnt strengths.
Colors can provoke or invoke emotions, which is a factor to consider in how the gems play a part in his kit.
Skills - Passive - Gemcraft - Taric is also an excellent Gemcrafter in addition to being a knight, using his craft to cut gems for his team mates or gems to harm his enemies. Whenever Taric casts an ability he gains a stack of gemcrafting, at 4 stacks he chooses a gem to be made and it is placed on the field near him.
When Taric reaches max stacks a menu above his skillbar will pp up for him to pick one of the gems.
Sapphire - Allies may consume this Gem to heal themselves, scales with Taric's ability power. (Sapphire for divinity.)
Ruby - Allies may consume this Gem to gain bonus damage, scales with Taric's Armor and Magic resist granting attack damage and ability power respectively. (Ruby for Vigor)
Opal - Opal gems explode when an enemy walks near them reducing their damage, scales with Taric's Armor and Magic resist granting attack damage and ability power respectively. (Opal for harmony.)
Emerald - Creates an Emerald ward that has 5 true health and does not grant bonus gold upon being destroyed. (Emerald for insight.)
This is the basis of his supporting using gems. They are thematic with his current quotes. This also gives him something to think about rather than just attack as often as possible for faster healing.
Q - Imbue - Taric Imbues all allies in target area ofter a brief delay, healing them and greanting them bonus movementspeed. Taric recieves 20% bonus healing from Imbue on himself.
Removed from being a targetable, we already have 3 other champions with targetable healing so making him more dynamic will help shift some of his power. The basic prinicple is that adding a skill gap means you can give skills more power. The bonus healing on himself however is lowered as he can now possibly heal multiple targets.
W - Shatter - Taric shatters the gems on his armor as well as any gems currently on the field dealing magic damage to enemys around himself and around the gems. Each gem has a differnt effect when shattered.
Sapphire - Slows enemies hit.
Ruby - Shreds the armor and magic resist of enemies hit.
Opal - Silences enemies hit.
Emerald - Blinds enemies hit.
Major changes here he loses his 2nd passive, but that means the damage from this skill can go up. Combined with the gems he makes he can also add some bonus effects in the proper situation.
E - Lustrous Cut - Taric cuts a gem with great luster and shine, enhancing his next basic attack and causing it to spawn a gem. While enhanced Taric also will leap at his opponent on his next attack a short distance. Works like picking his gems from his passive.
Sapphire - slows the first target hit.
Ruby - Deals bonus damage over time.
Opal - Silences the first target hit.
Emerald - Blinds the first target hit.
Another case of not wanting something too binary. Currently Taric is mostly a stun bot, which Annie already does better. This gives him plenty of options both in how he attacks and how he plans to follow up with shattering the gems or granting team mates more healing or buffs.
R - Radiant as Diamonds - Targic spawns 2/3/4 Diamonds around him which act as though they had all the benefits of the other gems. Taric may he cast the ability to throw the gems at target location and shatter them. Otherwise allies may consume them.
Consumed Diamonds heal and grant bonus damage and defense scaling with Taric's armor and magic resist.
Shattered Diamonds deal higher damage that other gems, shred the armor and magic resist of enemies hit, and blind and silence them.
Yes that is alot of power on one skill, but the size of the explosions wont be that high. Thus you wont be hitting enitre teams with debuffs. It also is a delayed skill, so its avoidable. And you may need to use some of them to heal and buff your own team.
All in all the new kit allows ability power Taric to heal and do damage, while tanky armor and magic resist Taric will have better buffs and debuffs. I tried to keep most of Taric's main mechanics, which were healing and buffing while granting him some choices rather than just being an aura and stun bot.
