Aren't tanks not supposed to do damage but absorb damage.
Seriously, why does tanks deal so much damage against most champions without any damage items, just all tank items but even with the tank items, they still just melt.

depends on the tank on whether or not its ok.
cause you wont see a leona or braum melting anyone (who isnt pushed down by a simple sneeze), but someone like poppy is kinda designed to in exchange for not having as much cc/being as tanky.
they do a lot of damage because damage or cc on every spell is the only way they can be viable when armor pretty much does nothing anymore xd
Partly, most non-tanks don't build health or resistances, so the damage is not mitigated. Also, tanks need to do some damage in order to attract aggro. It also depends on your definition of "tank"; are you talking about those like Poppy or tanky fighters like Voli, Garen, Darius, Illaoi, Urgot and such?
Ornn has zero tankiness outside of items now, and all of his CC is telegraphed/delayed. Doing more damage gives him consistency he would otherwise lack. Sion is in the same boat, but gets away with it because he would be useless in lane and the mid game if he didn't pack the punch that he does. Poppy is more of a bruiser/fighter than a tank
What tank is doing this? Jesus christ I wish every tank I mained dealt as much damage that is always being complained about.
