I think point-and-click is just part of how an assassin's kit works.
Pretty much every assassin in the game right now has at least one form of point-and-click attack. Besides Kha'zix and Rengar.

As long as Assassins use blades, Riot will make them AD. As long as they are AD, they will always have access to a 100-400 damage point-and-click nuke on a 0.9-1.3s cd.
