I don't get why playing support is so unpopular

Do people really enjoy farming minions that much? I'd rather fight my opponents instead of last hit minions, and laning support lets me do just that, and get gold for doing it.

Less control over the game+reliance on the adc in the early phases.

I just genuinely like helping my team. Now dont get me wrong. I LOVE to hop on nexus siege as sona and rush lich bane, nashors tooth and rabadons. Most of the time though I enjoy helping my team. It is satisfying to win teamfight for my time with a five man ult, but I don't think Its satisfying because I won us the teamfight its more satisfying because I know that my impact in the fight made my teammates happy because we won. If that makes sense. Jeez I know this sounds like really fake and corny but its how I feel about supporting.

It's because you rely on your adc to get you ahead and if they're stupid or don't know the role you're screwed. Plus you and the jungler get blame for everything. I mained support for a bit and people would get mad at me for not having warded Baron, dragon, and all 4 buffs. They seem to forget warding limits and instead of buying blue trinkets or warding they want me to get pinks. My favorite was when as Leona I would all in and people would ask me why I went deep instead of poking. It was at that time I became a top lane main.

  1. Support can't directly carry a game, which makes it a gamble to play solo
  2. Killing other players is fun. It's glorious. Support doesn't have much glory.
  3. Lack of reverence - Bot gets ganked by 4 people. You and your ADC make plays and kill 3 while you died. "gj adc" -3.5) No one ever says thanks
  4. Support is a multiplier, not a carry. Top and jungle are both 0/4 and 1/5 respectively. You can't do shit about that. Likewise, when your team does well, you can help further crush your opponent by denying them or making plays.

because you have to depend on assholes.

Supporting with people you actually know is a lot more fun

Support is low risk low reward role. Easiest role in the game and that's fact.

I'm cool supporting my duo but not a random vayne main.

DoktorKaiser7/16/2016, 9:01:53 PM5 votes

Because, no matter how good you are, if your teammates are bad you will lose, while in every other role, there is a slight chance you can carry yourself to victory. And then there are kids who only play Riven, Yasuo, Vayne etc. to make "pro scores" and make LC$ playz and write "so ez" when they kill me without using 1% of their brain and my rant went in a totally different direction...

It's everything else I don't like. Not having to farm is great.

Why I don't support:

-Under leveled -Get blamed for your lane partner dying while you're going to ward -"No Wards WTF?!?!" because your team tells you to stick with them and your other wards just expired -Poor itemization, especially for mages. While tank supports become real tanks with all the support related health items, mage itemization is shit. -Less gold -Can't truly carry as a traditional support. You heavily rely on your adc. -Can kinda/sorta carry as a mage support but you're ultimately a half baked mid laner. Support mages are lower in level, have less gold, and have wasted item slots with sightstone and the gold income item. Your core build is also delayed with sightstone. Why not just go mid?

Playing support is either the best or the worst experience in the game.

Playing support is kind of like directing an artillery barrage. If you pick the right target, you blow the enemy the fuck up. Sure, you didn't actually fire the weapon, but that doesn't matter. People don't praise the brilliance of artillery operators, they praise the brilliance of the general.

Playing adc is like actually operating the artillery. Sure, you can choose to disobey orders from your commander and refuse to fire, or to fire without the general's intelligence. Refusing to fire might be a better call than firing on the wrong target, but you won't do shit without good orders, and both you and the general know it.

If you're on the same page as your adc -- they're in position and follow up on your engages -- and you both have some baseline level of mechanical proficiency... as someone who's played quite a bit of every role, there is nothing else like it. You land your CC on the right target, call down the artillery, and the target blows up. You may not have done the right-clicking, but you were the reason that damage happened.

OR

You're the general, but your artillery battalion is untrained and frequently misses the mark. They're mutinous and don't always fire when you command. There's nothing more frustrating than knowing you did everything right, you outmaneuvered the enemy general, but you're going to lose the war because your dumbass artillery battalion decided they weren't in the mood to send off a barrage today.

People don't play support because they experience the worst of League and say "fuck that shit, I'm out" before they have the chance to experience the highs that the role can offer.

110% respect for those support mains out there.

Bodhizapha7/16/2016, 5:18:28 PM4 votes

most players are ass holes in general lol...but I love to support. It might be low reward, but when you pull of a great sona ult or bard ult and turn the game in one team fight...it makes it totally worth.

Nice Fellow7/17/2016, 1:39:15 AM2 votes

because you get adcs that do 0 damage in teamfights because theyre constantly getting caught out

The Deckowner7/17/2016, 2:36:54 AM2 votes

90% of players who disadmire playing support because they don't want to deal with their adc.

I am a support main and sometimes some of the adc you got match with just makes you hate the role.

deadlychuck7/17/2016, 3:09:49 AM2 votes

Well by not farming minions you miss out on gold. Missing out on gold generally means less damage, less damage means carrying less.
