Black Cleaver's buff is going to indirectly buff adc's and i got a solution for it

Unique: Dealing physical damage to an enemy champion Cleaves them, making you penetrate their armor by 6% for 8 seconds, stacking up to 6 times for a maximum of 36%. works only for melee champions

there you go. bruisers buffed nicely, adc's don't have free last whisper just because they have xin zhao in their team, but they still can build Black Cleaver if they want some damage, cdr and kiting potential. it also won't break assassins, as they don't aa much

about yasuo abusing it - just revert the buffs for him

I'd rather see the stacks apply no matter what, but have it so damage from the owner of Black Cleaver is only effected by the stacks if the owner is melee. That way something like a support Ashe could take it, but said Ashe woudn't have their own damage boosted by it.

This is pretty interesting as a solution. I think the real question is what is the simplest change that can be made to have an effect similar to this or that mentioned in the OP to help close the range versus melee effectiveness gap.

I too think it's best to leave the item as a potential purchase for adcs as we want to maintain itemization choices and diversity for all classes, but we want these choices to be balanced between classes.

not at all, they just wouldn't be able to apply stacks in ranged form, so maybe finally they wouldn't be such insane lane bullies

but as much as I hate laning against them, being lane bullies is part of their kit

they would still be lane bullies, just they would deal more damage in melee and less as ranged. i think that sounds reasonable.

I guess so..but it would require riot to favor melee over ranged champions, which isn't happening any time soon

What adc besides lucian and miss fortune builds black cleaver anyway? Why not just cap the stacks like they are now for ranged, and increase it for melee? Like phage passive.
