Assassin Supports? (An Assassin that can *reliably* support?)
Hey there, Onwodori here! It's been awhile.
I'm hitting my stride again in Season 7 with Assassin's and mobile ADC's so far (The two sort of go hand in hand) only, when I get into ranked, I don't feel comfortable delegating some caffeine-fueled-man-child the extremely important job of Support (and extremely underrated) so often I grab myself Support and lock in to 30 minutes of 'Samurai Jack' level suffering [topical.] After I've staunched the bleeding, I queue up for another.
I am a fan of supports that can either dish out uncomfortable damage with a few items and a sight stone (
blimey) or one that brings so much utility you can dangle kills in front of your team's faces to eat (

) running around half the time to raise hell.
Alternatively, I'd love an ASSASSIN support. It is, in my opinion, the most enjoyable play style: They rely on outplays and fore thought and reward accordingly, such as mine and the communities favorite salt farmer,
(see image above / below)
So, let's list out a few assassin's and decide if they can support or if they simply need too many items to be useful in the role. If I place one you disagree with or miss one you think is an excellent contender, feel free to tell me!
- In general an OP champion as it stands, she has free shields to trade and jumps on the enemy carry to keep them in place, forcing fights for your [hopefully] stronger ADC.
- Large AOE stun, pretty decent damage with some cheap magic pen items.
- Likely controversial. I believe Jhin counts as an assassin and maintains vision control, hard CC, long range poke and some fierce free damage with his forth shot. Additionally, he doesn't achieve his full price hyper carry, but by building all of the cheaper crit items (

tossed in.)
- Stun, Poke and free damage with his crit passive. Trades well and very aggressively and with
and
he has armor shred, stops healing and deals meaningful damage still.
- Ah yes. Can go AP and AD meaning weird builds like
has some merit. It looks ridiculous but isn't without it's use. Has damage, bush control and fierce outplays as Shaco always does.
I think that about wraps it up for the ones that really come to mind. Let me know what you all think and see you out there!

I have seen as supports from time to time. Oh full AD
is a nightmare as well.
full AP support assassian.
,
should work. I am pretty sure I have seen Ahri but not Diana.

and
I have seen these at least once. They have the big issue of being melee with unreliable CC or poke.
occasionally, great counterpick vs. skillshot supports thanks to her spiderlings, and her burst damage really pressures ADCs and damage supports early game where they're not at their strongest. Additionally she can go for a tankier build to be more utility, or she can go AP to be more of a carry herself, pick your poison between spell thief's or targons. She also has a slight ziggs syndrome, where she can take towers faster than usual with W and spiderlings.
then I go AP with spell thief's, but if I'm playing with a more passive farm ADC like
then I just go targon's cause even if I go hard, I won't get the follow up anyway.
Tanky: 12/18/0 (TLD)
also deserves a mention, considering the plays he can make bot lane.
