How do I have to play Rek'Sai? (or: Why does Rek'Sai deal less damage than Soraka's AA vs Malphite?)

Hey,

So I've just bought Rek'Sai and wanted to learn her, but after my first game playing her I feel like I don't deal any significant damage. I gank a lane, knock up the target and after this...yeah, good question. I'm there and act like I'm doing something, but everything I do feels like a soraka with full tank runes tries to 1v1 a full armor malphite with just her autoattacks. Especially if I skill Q first it's my only real damage bonus I receive for fights, the unborrow damage is more like an AA and the E deals quite low damage, even with 100 Fury the damage goes up to something like 130-150 max before leveling the skill. It just feels really weird and unimpactful to me. Sure, I went for Cinderhulk, but any other possible Cinderhulk jungler feels double as impactful regarding cc and damage. So...is there any good reason Rek'Sai feels weaker than any absolutely non-meta jungler I've ever played? (for comparison: Ahri jgl without early kills and super-slow firstclear felt more viable and impactful than Rek'Sai)

Greetings,

You play her mostly as a utility champion. She can deal solid auto-attack based damage while ahead, but generally you're picking her to be a knock-up bot with solid objective control in her E and, most importantly, "vision" from her Tremor Sense.

She's not some you pick to reliably carry. She's someone you pick to set up picks and gather information, and she's not bad at countetganking either what with that ult of her's if you're proactive with placing your tunnels.

She gives amazing amounts of vision, has high mobility, farms like nobody's business, and has no resource costs.

So yes, her non-Q damage suffers for it.
