So, how am I supposed to play the new Vladimir?

Hey,

I've just played my first game with the new Vlad, sure I had a Riven main against me and a poor itembuild I guess, but just playing Vlad felt absolutely horrible. His Q is beyond useless, dealing like 0 damage and healing for nothing, even with 30%+ CDR it takes years to be able to use Crimson Rush, if your enemy doesn't just walk away seeing your Rush-bar slowly preparing to fill (30% CDR and it takes about 7 second to be able to use the enhanced Q, IF you had the chance to consistently target someone. The E can deal good damage, but just trying to clear a big minion wave costs more health than you'll ever heal with your Q and he just feels extremely clunky to play.

How is Vlad supposed to deal with targets that don't give you at least 12-15 seconds to kill them?

Seriously, I don't get it. I really liked to play old Vlad from time to time and even if he was simple, you had a better "flow" playing him and he was actually able to poke or take those long duels/fights, now I don't see any of that.

Sorry for being so salty here, but this is the only mage rework that just feels absolutely horrible to me and where I don't really see what all this was aimed at.

Over and out. [zombie-brand-clap]

I've been playing a lot of Vlad since the rework, here's what I can share: Current Vlad relies a lot more on CDR to keep up his damage and healing, since E can totally kill you if you're not careful and Q is the most consistent way of topping yourself off, not to mention having your W and R much more often. For this reason I always play him on mid, where his matchups are much more even than in top and most of them are actually in your favor (I've seen plenty of people grabbing Fizz to counter me, Vlad right now roflstomps Fizz), and since mid lane is packed with AP champs you can rush your new favourite item: item 3065 , which acts as a surrogate Will of the Ancients, it simply has everything you need. After that grab item 3158 and item 3067 and then finishitem 3152 , and with scaling CDR runes you're all set, you can spam your spells as much as you like, with a heavier emphasis on Q in order to not kill yourself as previously stated. Protobelt is an underrated item that, just like SV, gives Vlad all he wants, and even has a short range dash/shotgun to finish off people or hit better ults. Many times I've had the highest champion damage in my team with those two items alone. After those, it's your choice. I almost always rush item 3116 and item 3089 to maximize your damage and keep people at an arm's reach for yourself and your team, and for your last item it depends on what the enemy is building. I find item 3151 to be an excellent purchase that synergizes with your Rylai and your passive, and allows you to shred health stackers; if the enemy has heavy MR, I suggest you get item 3135 instead, much cheaper and chews through their defenses. So yes, bigger emphasis on HP than old Vlad, since your E scales with the thing, but AP is equally as important in order to maximize your healing potential and not kill yourself in fights. I differ from most of the people in this forum, I actually think Vlad got a lot better since the rework, your damage potential is through the roof and you're actually a pretty decent lane bully in a lot of matchups, which translates into massive teamfight power later in the game, you just need to be a lot more careful and not spam your E as it can and will drain your entire HP if you're careless with it, use your Q much more frequently since with all your CDR it should be on a negligible CD, don't forget to use your ult on as many people as you can and watch your HP bar restore to full after it's finished. Use your W carefully as it drains a lot of your HP (which you can gain back with the damage it deals, btw), but with enough CDR it should be up in no time as well. I don't really think Vlad is as clunky as everyone makes him out to be, with reasonable management of your HP and your healing spells you should be dealing massive damage and healing yourself like it's nobody's business.

Don't play him, it will just ruin your mood if you were a vlad main.

I prefer running windspeakers and the other heal mastery, rushing SV on him as my first item. With spellvamp quints, you get some pretty nice sustain. Enough damage, tankiness, and sustain to bully an Olaf. (Which is the best feeling ever)

I build Visage, CDR boots, Protobelt, Rylai's, Rabba, and GA or Randuin's on him.

DFT and Windspeaker are the only keystone's I'd use on him, as TL and the others just don't do as much for Vlad. Though, I prefer running windspeaker for the increased healing and the barrier damage block boost.

Mid to lategame, with these masteries and visage, you'll be healing a lot off crimson rush and your ult. I've had a few times where a well placed ult replenished 80% of my HP (3000ish hp) in one fight.

Tip: If at any chance possible, hit a champ with crimson rush instead of a minion. You only get half the heal off crimson rush from minions.

The new Vladimir is much harder to play and much more useless. His Q does no damage, and his E is always blocked by other targets and leeches your hp.

I feel as if all his damage has gone way down on top of this.

Just find another champion to play.

From what I've seen, building Vlad full tank with an emphasis on health is the best way to go. The health stacking improves the damage from his E and the healing from his empowered Q (which restores % missing health). Warmog's and Spirit Visage make a good combination on him, because the damage you do to yourself with your E doesn't make the Warmog's passive stop functioning.

I play him full AP (very high risk) in the Mid lane. I take almost full AP runes into the lane and play safe against bad match-ups, more aggressively against favourable ones. I don't do Spirit Visage (being obsessed about maximising sustained damage, the loss of AP from building it annoys me too much even though it has great overall stats).

I rush Rabadon's Deathcap and then slide my way into building CDR AP items to increase the chances of landing empowered Q in sustained team fights (and to have R up as often as I can and for the pops to hurt as much as they can).

Rabadon, CDR boots, Zhonya/Abyssal, Codex, Rylais... then I either go Void Staff/Luden's Echo or I finish off the Codex into Zhonya/Abyssal (whichever is left) before fulling the last spot. If the enemy bullies me hard in the lane I do Rabadon second instead of first (going for Abyssal or Zhonya first instead).

I use my Es very carefully but in team fights I mostly kite with Qs while trying to land R on multiple enemies.

With this build you can do a ton of damage but you can also be deleted almost immediately in a team fight.

Controversially, I don't do Rylais earlier in the build because I want more AP and more CDR (to have my empowered Q and Ult up as often as possible); I try to get the rest of the team to pick more CC heavy characters.

Literally just rush health items and max cdr. He's OP asf
