On Azir- To Buy Nashor's or Not to Buy Nashor's?

So, this seems to be a point of contention between a lot of Azir players. Some people feel that you should not buy the item because A. the passive doesn't apply to soldiers, which translates to a wasted part of the item or B. It's too expensive given the fact that Azir needs 40% CDR as soon as possible so he can start building damage. Others say that even though the item is expensive, it's very gold/slot efficient as Azir makes full use of every stat on the item (minus the passive, in most cases).

I tend to find that I'll rush nashor's if I'm winning lane, but if I'm losing lane, a chalice into athene's rush is better because it allows for more safe harass. I will say, however, that if I save enough gold to buy stinger on my first back, the damage spike from the huge CDR/AS boost is very noticeable, especially against opponents who didn't rush MR.

Azir players, thoughts?

I don't like it on Azir, myself. If I'm going to be getting a cdr item it's probably going to be either Morellonomicon or Grail. In the case of Morellonomicon, the spell effect can be applied by soldiers, which is nice.

However, I also don't tend to rush to 40% cdr like many seem to be doing. I've been having more luck with early spell pen via haunting guise and sorc boots, and then getting a cdr item.

Nashor's is probably a good item if your mission is to rush to 40% cdr, while also gaining additional attack speed. However, late game I'm not sure that it's your best option.

I think it can probably be viable, but it really would depend on the situation.

It can feel more important to rush attack speed and CDR, but the reality is that you need to rush tons of AP.

I usually start morello/grail + rabadon and sorc shoes, then i go either for zhonya or void staff (depending on if I need a defensive item or not, but at the end i still build both of them tho), and THEN I build nashor's tooth to get 40% cdr and some attack speed.

This build simply allow to do monster damage during the mid game, and when comes the late game, you do monster damage very quickly

I don´t really like the Nashoors on him, i prefer going grail->mass AP. That allows bursting down unsuspecting squishies with just q->1-2 attacks - I feel like he operates better if you go for burst-windows instead of sustained dmg, as he´s incredible vulnerable. Most important is CDR-cap though, as you need to constantly reposition your army and yourself.

My rule of thumb is if there is any part of an item you can't use, then its gold wasted. Gold wasted is a bad item bought. Best build I have had so far (max dmg) is

item 3174 item 3165 item 3135 item 3259 item 3089 item 3157
