New 120 AP Item

All AD champions have a basic high damage item (item 1038) that is upgraded to give the relevant stats/effects needed for that champion/match. One gives raw damage (item 3031), one gives defensive stats (item 3139) and two give sustain ( item 3072 and item 3508 )

AP champions have an equivalent to item 1038 in the item 1058. The raw damage item is (item 3089), the defensive item is (item 3157), but no sustain item. The new 120 AP item should be one that gives sustain. It could give give health and/or mana with every auto attack, or minion kill or after so many spell usages. For example when you kill a unit with an auto attack you could get say 20 hp and mana, when you kill a unit with an ability you could get 10 hp and mana and this would only proc once every 5 sec so you cant gain like 1000 hp and mana from ziggs bombing a giant wave or something. It could keep the same name Deathfire Grasp and artwork since I really enjoy the artwork and theme. It could build out of the item 3113 and item 1058 and give the passive + movespeed + 120 AP. The movespeed would also be good for all of those mages with no escapes and sustain issues (Anivia Annie Mordekaiser Karthus Lux Malzahar) for example.

I would like to see this item 3023 at 120 - 110 ap it would be really usefull mid.

the reason attack damage have a sustain item... they rely heavily on auto attacks. mages counter sustain with cc/nuke. Syndra with a sustain item would be a nightmare. (for math purposes, lets use the 20% from bloodthirster on a 120 ap item with spell vamp/sustain using syndra nuke with best case 7 balls on the table and a lvl 3 ulti. 1260 damage plus the 126 for the ap scaling... and assuming she has 0 ap to start. thats 277 health from 1 ability and 1 item and 0 runes/masteries. essentially a soraka heal. Now add all the late game items, and you have a mage that can nuke and be full health the whole time.) There are currently spell vamp items in the game. They dont offer crazy ap but on champs like akali, they offer unreal healing from abilities.

now your solution with the item that gives health on minion kills with aa. they already have an item. Dorans blade. lol. mages dont rely on their auto attack. Again cc stops an adc from auto attack = 0 sustain, 0 healing. Mages are strong early game, but fall into utility late game.

Firelight Beacon (homage to Blackfire Torch and Deathfire Grasp) 120 AP

Unique Passive: Every 8 ability-casts you heal for an amount equal to 50% AP over 6 seconds.

Unique Active: Every 10 ability-casts Firelight Beacon gains a charge (up to two). Consume a charge to gain 5% Movement Speed that increases to 15% over the four second duration.

Nothing in this item is instant, so the heal cannot instantly allow you to turn around enemy burst damage. The Movement Speed increases slow enough that it doesn't instantly help you escape from ganks. Honestly it sounds a little broken, and I would take out either the passive or active to compensate.
