French on NA

Hello,

I just felt the need to remind everyone that there are millions of French speakers in NA and that we still have to choose between good ping or a game in our mother tongue. It's really silly. The EU servers have a French option, which means the translation is there, it exists. There is no reason it shouldn't be available on NA. :-(

EDIT: Ok, like, what the hell, I shouldn't even have to be typing this right now but I am in no way demanding that people communicate in French through chat. I am just asking for the game in itself (for which a translation already exists on European servers) to be available in French. Even for those actively learning English, some champion abilities and item descriptions can be tough to understand. I think it would benefit everyone if all players had the possibility to get a good understanding of the game they're playing. I am not trying to create confusion. I am trying to avoid confusion. Worst case, people can just communicate with pings. EU servers have multiple language options and they're doing just fine.

EDIT 2: Yes, my English is great. No, this is not a problem for me personally. However, I know a few people who struggle with this, and they are not literate enough in English to write a post on the boards without receiving a buttload of hate, which is why I am asking for them (and for everyone else who would like to hear and read their game in their native language).

They need to build a firewall, a big beautiful firewall that will keep the French Canadians out. They're coming into our American speaking communities, they're refusing to speak American, they're talking about their baguettes, and they're smuggling in tons of maple syrup. They're a bunch of bad mooseriders.

It's time to make NA great again.

That is a sweet initiative from you, i second this! (PS: don't get too annoyed by rude people who just don't understand the point you're trying to make) [slayer-jinx-wink]

I don't see anything wrong why having a different language for the game text is a big deal to some players. So yeah, I hope Riot does add the French text to help out players who have trouble with English. Though, personally, I would like if they can do that with the voice overs too. Playing champions with other voice lines would be kinda awesome.

I'd like to point out NA server used to have a french option. They removed it, but all you had to do was to edit a .txt file. They patched it too. Not only some people ignore NA have multiple official languages (english, french, spanish), but will point out every grammatical errors and report for not perfectly speak english.

Yea, my cousin would have a hard time trying to learn this game if he ever wanted too.

So difficult for some, having the EU French available would be better.

I swear there was a way to change the client language, does that not change the in-game language?

(I'm but a wee English speaker, I don't know anything about that T_T)

fucking Quebec... Whatever... I'll deal with it... Also they are in Canada still, are they not required to learn English? Or do they not want to? Not important to me either away, I'm just curious.

It's probably not millions (that play League at least) but yeah I agree. It's super annoying to have people that can't speak English on your team tho, even if I do speak some French.

Seems like you can type english pretty decently, But I do understand not being able to talk in a English centered server, I do think it would be a good idea to factor in (while searching for a game) peoples reading language.

is that why there are a lot of fuckboys that don't respond in chat? Even if you're being nice.

I think the main reason is that the Quebecois would try to speak French to the Creoles and the Cajuns and nobody would understand the other, despite nominally speaking the same language.
