Honestly when Malzahar has the highest win rate, it's the best meta to be in.

I've never had a problem with the game when Malzahar has the highest win rate, this snowball clown fiesta that has no counterplay. If we were in one of THOSE metas (the one in the title) this means that pretty much everything is no better than anything else since he's so DPS and because he has the easiest counterplay in the game, people just complain too much about it. Malzahar's damage is practically all single target and DPS.

It's hard to elaborate on this because IT JUST IS, when DPS mages are meta, they can shut down Assassins in the early game so they don't snowball as easily, but when they are outplayed in the early game (which was possible) Assassins deserved to be ahead, now it just feels all derpy with nothing right now scaling well and the only thing that does scale well is stuff that never gets played in game, I'm talking to you:

Ahri Amumu Annie Ashe AurelionSol Azir Caitlyn Cassiopeia Corki Gragas Hecarim Heimerdinger Ivern Jax Kayle Kennen KogMaw Lissandra Malphite Malzahar Maokai Nasus Nautilus Olaf Riven Tryndamere Twitch Urgot Varus Veigar Velkoz Warwick Zac

tl;dr Game is too early game dependent, we need a foundation of dps champions like malz to keep everything from going out of countrol like it is right now. We already have item 3194 , it's not like there ISN'T counterplay for constant AP DPS, we also need an item like item 3046 that isn't item 3046 do you realize how ridiculous it is building item 3046 on a Sejuani ?

The ”Malzahar is a nessesary evil” theory stands still. And I totally believe it.

People still complain about Zed, Leblanc, Yasuo, etc.

But people also want the removal of Malzahar's Ult.

Its as if people have forgotten old Malzahar hard countered all these annoying mobile/assassin champions.

That and they're seriously complaining about an ULTIMATE ability giving you 2.5 seconds to react in a game where an assassin can blow you up in less than a second.

I main Malzahar, but when I ult I always pray for my allies to cover me and the enemies won't focus me while I do my job. This is the reason he is called "THE most stable soloque mage" after all. Team-wide coordination makes him weak he thrives on the chaos of soloque.

Also talking about "necessary evil", he is literally runeterras anti-christ.

Yea i just love getting point and click outplayed by someone who can solo kill outplay you when ahead and is still great at setting up outplays while behind. I absolutely agree. He just has so much skill expression in his kit that just feels super fair to play against.

1300g is all you need...

You can argue that people can get a stopwatch against Zed, Fizz, etc for 600g, but it can only be used once and then you have to spend an additional 2300g for a shitty "please time your skillshots for 2.5s" item to use the active again.

QSS doesn't have to be a first buy nor does it need to be completed, but it will decrease grey screen time and render his ult useless against you. And even if you're AP, it'll stop you from being a target for his ult and decrease his damage if his abilities land on you.

Back when I did play Malzahar, nothing fucked me more than an Ahri or another AP champion with mobility/CC who bought a QSS because even if I ulted you, you'd just QSS and burst people after.

Target/Short-Mid Range > Mobility > Mid-Long Ranged/Skillshots > Target/Short-Mid Range Triangle exists to keep each other in check.

Its not Target users' fault that every new champion keeps getting mobility attached to their kit, making them more potent against them.

One thing about them is they can fail. they both have skill shots that can be dodged. Malzahar on the other hand has absolutely no way to fail at his damage. You cannot in any way outplay the point and click.

As Xerath player I rarely build zhonyas or even stopwatch (600 gold btw) against these champs. This being said any champ can build stopwatch and still continue with their builds. Stopwatch can be built into GA zhonyas or even gargoyles (tho champs that bull gargoyles should have a problem with this anyways.

While stopwatch can only be used once. The champions it counters are countered much harder by being denied an early kill. These champions are much more reliant on snowballing so failing get early kills is detrimental. denying a malzahar on the other hand does not by any means make him useless. Sure now he might not be able to 1v1 any of the enemy team but he still can engage with ultimate/flash ultimate. If you are going to make the argument that the entire team is going buy a sash then then that basically gives the team with malz a 6.5k gold lead because they are just trying to counter a single champion. We saw this in the LCS in the spring split. A worse midlaner could always pick malz and be just as useful without having to be better. See season 7 worlds finals with Faker vs Crown.

If you are struggling against a champion with a 650 range E and 700 range ult as a Xerath, whose shortest spell range is an uncharged Q at 750, then you have bigger issues than just Malzahar.

Once more I point out the Range > Target > Mobility > Range triangle.

Xerath is a ranged champion. This means his kit is centered around far ranged abilities. Because he is long ranged, he pays a price by having his abilities be all skill shots, meaning he is weaker to mobile champions. But this also means that because he is further away, he is also safer against short/mid ranged champions who are also immobile.

Due to the nature of his Q being delayed, Malzahar's current skillshot, Call of The Void is actually shorter than its listed 900 range. That along with his other abilities that range from 150 for Voidling spawns to 700 with Nether Grasp, makes Malzahar a short-mid range champion. The range also means he has to place himself in danger. In exchange for the lesser range, lack of mobility, and exposure to danger, his shorter range skills are given targeting capabilities.

Stasis is a trash active that basically says "Hey come and get me after 2.5 seconds!"

I will never get that unless I'm against a Zed or a Nocturne because they can dive while you are with your team. And if I have just stopwatch, I won't even bother using it if I'm alone, because I know they will just kill me after I use it. Would rather save it for when it will actually save my life.

QSS lets you walk away while mitigating damage and even if your entire team built QSS, that means Malzahar can never lock anyone down and half of your team should be able to build a lifesteal/movement speed boost scimitar anyways.

The only thing you have to worry about is positioning and actually pressing QSS.

Oh I never said i was struggling against malzahar as Xerath. I have absolutely no problem against malzahar. I have't actually found a champion that i face mid as Xerath that I have a problem with (even some of his worst matchups like the aforementioned zed/fizz). This is not about that at all. This is about what is frustrating to go against.

My entire argument is that I would much rather fight someone who could miss skill shots, actually expose them selves or actually be shut down as opposed to a champ that is useful no matter how good the actual player is.

If I die to a zed it is much less frustrating than malz hitting his outplay button and sitting back cracking open a cold one while I try and play the game.

Hey maybe its just me being bias towards champions that can fail (I play Xerath, a skill shot reliant champ). Maybe others prefer champions that they can still be useful on while lacking skill. But hey thats just me.

I'm 100% positive you're getting downvotes because people think you're trying to get buffs for Malzahar.

But whats funny is that according to op.gg you don't even play him let alone main him xD

I don't play him because when I was a mid lane main back in season 6 and 7 I'd CONSTANTLY play against it, he isn't that hard to play against, hell he's easier to kill than Yasuo, you poke his shield, move away from his E range if there's only one minion left, rush QSS, dive him when he wastes his Q, he's not that hard to kill, I've tried playing him and he's just too cheesy to play, boring, has no mechanics in his kit, and is entirely team based, I hate those champions, I want to play something like Veigar or Xerath where you can hit multiple people instead of being a mid ranged DPS assassin, it's stupid IMO, and exactly what this game needs, we need stupid things in this game to make it interesting.

I do miss pre-rework Malzahar.

Back when you didn't need a team and only required patience, timing, and the ability to punish positioning mistakes...
