Can someone explain what was bad about darius before the juggernaut rework?
I just don't understand why he was a part of that rework

They felt they could not properly balance him. If he was strong he was too strong, and if he was weak he was too weak. Adding in more places for number tweaking is typically what happens in this case, and that's what they did.
Every champion can be used in niche cases, however Riot wants every champion to have situations where they are not just niche, but viable. Pre-juggernaut Darius was too weak overall. People could play him, and do quite well, but for the amount of effort put into making him useful a player could have mastered a more viable champion and done far better. For anyone who did not main him, however, he just wasn't a competitive pick most of the time.
Again, niche cases of viability happen for all champions, however niche is not good enough in Riot's eyes.
So instead they created an over powered version that is pick ban and has a 90%+ ban rate in solo q so no one can play him.
People still ban Garen. It's clear people ban what they think is strong, not what actually is strong.
Just because a champ is simple doesn't mean it's not strong... garen is still strong in solo q.
There isn't a single champion in this game that isn't strong in solo q when used properly. It is called yolo queue after all.
But ban worthy? No.
If u strongly feel that their isn't a single champ that can't be strong in solo q then how can u argue garen or any champion is a bad ban... afterall, u said all champ in solo q that isn't strong when used properly.
U don't have to agree with me it's fine i respective ur view. I don't find garen super of either. But the amount of effort needed to contain a garen is generally more than my gold teams can deal with. So I ban him.
Did I say he is a bad ban? I'm a Garen main, so banning him against me is actually a very good thing to do. That said there are stronger champions than him who often make it through the ban phase.
My point was simply that ban rate does not necessarily directly tie into how strong a champion actually is. You said Darius is OP, and stated his ban rate as evidence. My point is that it is not strong enough evidence to support your claim.
Most of the the time I would agree with this statement.. but for Darius and fiora specifically i think it does.
His laning was actually more ridiculously strong, but he completely fell off lategame.
