Why more bans would Fix Urf

Darn i wanted Urf since it was almost april fools i hated arurf it wasnt random at all and it was cancer. Reasons why:

  1. No mirror matches
  2. a lot of the free to play champs were picked often
  3. i had to play yasuo in urf
  4. i had to play vs Fiora/Xin/Wu/Eve/Shaco/Fizz/Maokai, when in normal urf i could have ban them.
  5. theres a reason why we had bans cause the OP urf champs were still AVAILABLE in Arurf and they were banned for a REASON
  6. unbalanced teams ex. blue team 3 op pick 2 decent picks red team 1 op pick 4 ok picks
  7. not all of us are tryhards, i would like to pick the same champ and try different builds with them, like lethality on jinx, Ap Ashe, etc.
  8. playing a very weak urf champ against your will (dont say that "all champs are op u just have to learn them" bs, its urf i wanna have fun not learn a champ)
  9. more bans could have fixed the whole urf issue :/, it would remove all the stale picks leaving room for the underrated champs. Rito u already tested random now give us more bans! and to counter your argument about "arurf and aram are the same thing" at least in aram u dont have infinite mana and a karthus ulting every 35 seconds. also i have uberdanger and Magikarpusedfly to agree with me "should you play Urf? Yes! should you play Arurf? No" -Uber "i just hate that i can't choose who i wanna play on urf anymore i mean wtf man, that was the coolest thing about urf, finding and testing out champions that you think would be fun" - Magikarpusedfly also my friend only got to play her favorite champion once this arurf, and this just isnt what urf is about, plz rito give us normal urf back. arurf was mainly played a lot because players thought "oh i wasn't luck the first time, maybe i'll get a champ i'll enjoy next game!" -next game- "oh maybe a few more i'll get lucky" - few more games later- ugh.... why must you make me suffer rito! Normal urf is played because "oooh i need to try this build on urf! -next game- "ooh i wonder what would happen if i went full ap/ad (insert champ here) -next game- "wow that fizz almost got our nexus, better ban him next game' -bans fizz next game- "i think we need more bans there isnt enough to keep out the annoying urf champs as well" the reason we need more bans is because new champs are always being added 6 bans will eventually and its very close i might say, be underwhelming since there will be more op meta champs then there can be banned champs, eventually we will have a higher op meta champs ratio compared to ban ratio. ex 20 op champs, only 6 bans to keep 6 of them out.

it wasnt random at all

I'm curious why you think that. It's as random as ARAM is, which does randomly select a champion from your available pool.

20 op champs, only 6 bans to keep 6 of them out.

so then it will be 20 op champs, 10 are banned, the other 10 are played every game.

  1. its not random because the free to play champs fill in the spots most of the time and i see them almost every other game, literally i see the semi popular champs, most of the time and champs like volibear, braum and, udyr show up nly once in my games, the picks are very low in variety.
  2. there arent literally that many, its just an example that could happen, there are curently around 14 op champs in urf and only 6 bans, 10 bans would get rid of the extremely op ones and the 4 remaining yet counter-able or easier to deal with are left to pick, it also will encourage wider variety in picks meaning lesser picked champs get to be played more often.

It is random.

I played 180 games of ARURF between the two weeks it was available. I own 75 champions currently, and had access to 85 over the 2 weeks with free champions.

Of the champions I could play, these are the number of games I played with each: *this doesn't account for rerolls (which I rarely used), trades, or when other people dodged

Ahri - 4 Anivia - 4 Annie - 4 Ashe - 1 AurelionSol - 5 Bard - 3 Blitzcrank - 1 Brand - 1 Braum - 4 Cassiopeia - 1 Chogath - 2 Corki - 2 DrMundo - 1 Draven - 2 Ekko - 1 Elise - 4 Fiddlesticks - 2 Fiora - 2 Gangplank - 3 Garen - 2 Hecarim - 3 Heimerdinger - 1 Ivern - 3 Janna - 3 JarvanIV - 2 Jax - 1 Jinx - 2 Kalista - 4 Karma - 3 Karthus - 1 Kassadin - 1 Katarina - 4 Kayle - 1 Kindred - 5 Leona - 1 Malphite - 4 MasterYi - 4 MissFortune - 1 Mordekaiser - 4 Morgana - 3 Nidalee - 2 Nunu - 1 Poppy - 4 Rammus - 2 RekSai - 2 Renekton - 3 Riven - 6 Ryze - 1 Shaco - 3 Shyvana - 3 Singed - 5 Sivir - 1 Sona - 2 Soraka - 2 Swain - 1 TahmKench - 4 Taliyah - 1 Talon - 3 Taric - 3 Teemo - 1 Tristana - 3 Trundle - 2 Tryndamere - 3 TwistedFate - 1 Twitch - 2 Varus - 1 Veigar - 3 Vi - 2 Viktor - 1 Warwick - 6 XinZhao - 1 Yorick - 1 Zilean - 2 Zyra - 1

The champions I own but never played are: Alistar - got 3 or 4 times but traded Amumu - never got Graves - traded once, someone dodged once Lucian - never got Nasus - got once but someone dodged Sion - rerolled once Syndra - got her on the last day Udyr - traded once, rerolled once Irelia - never got

This should show you that

  1. You're no more likely to get free champions than ones you own.
  2. The champion you get is random (or atleast as close to random as a program can get). Out of 180 games played, riven and warwick had the most games played, both of which I traded for a few times. I played 2-3 games on average with every champion.

Just because you didn't get one specific champion, or saw the same champion a few times, doesn't mean the game modes aren't random.

The reason you see free champions with more frequency than other champions is every single player has a chance to get them every game. There are 10 chances for them to pop up.

You have 3 people with different types of shirts in drawers. Person 1 has a blue shirt, a pink shirt, and an orange shirt. person 2 has a green shirt, a white shirt, a purple shirt, and a black shirt. person 3 has a yellow shirt, and a grey shirt.

Now I put a red shirt into all 3 of their drawers. If I asked each person to pick a shirt at random without looking in the drawer, red has a higher chance to be pulled than any other color. Person 3 will have a higher chance of pulling the red shirt than person 2, but the chance of pulling it is still there for everyone.

Just increase the number of shirts and change it to champions, and make it 10 people instead of 3.

i played around 200 games and i see basically more champs being picked than others, i hate the random factor because it can be really unfair, people also tend to dodge when you get a champ u enjoy, and its really frustrating, i wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy especially if they get their main, its happened to me so many times i literally had to go through 6 phases where people dodged constantly and on the last one someone finally didn't dodge but then the series happened again, there are also no mirror matches either and mirror matches either which was a fun part in urf, aram is more balanced than arurf could ever be because you dont have to worry about a wukong going invis 24/7 a fiora never leaving you alone, Zed spammign q at you since he now has so much range in urf, or being perma cced by a leona thats full tank so u cant kill them to stop the cc chain.

i find it annoying that u get champs u dont want to play more times than the other, and riot says its what you should expect when playing arurf, and act like we shouldn't have played arurf even tho its the only option of urf available and people are having to take risks hoping to enjoy at least a few games of urf.
